The SAG-AFTRA Washington-Mid Atlantic Conservatory Committee Presents: "Stand-up Comedy."
Transform your life experiences into a standout stand-up comedy set! This workshop will cover the fundamentals of stand-up, including crafting your setup, developing a strong premise, and mastering stage presence. Plus, select participants will have the chance to perform their brand-new material in front of the group by the end of the session!
Jesse Robinson is an actor, producer, and comedian who grew up in Clarke County, Virginia. Jesse's on-screen credits include principal roles for Netflix, ABC/ESPN, Apple TV+, CBS, and Discovery+. His national commercial credits include Geico, Buffalo Wild Wings, and Bethesdda Games. Jesse also served as Christian Bale's body double during his Academy Award-nominatedd portrayal of Dick Cheney in Adam McKay's "Vice." Having spent the last half decade working in television in Los Angeles, Jesse has story-produced an ARTAS-nominated series for Crackle and served as a writer-producer for two lifestyle series that aired weekly on CBS affiliates. He also written and produced several short/feature length projects in partnership with the Los Angeles Young Actors Camp program. As a stand-up comedian, Jesse has played in L.A. venues like the Comedy Store and HaHa Club, featuring for Damon Wayans, Jeff Garlin, Mindy Rickles, Jimmy O. Yang and more. In Washington, D.C. he was named Laugh Index Theatre's 2017 Comedian of the Year. Jesse graduated from George Mason University, where he was the Presiddent of the Mason Improve Association and was named the Broadcaster of the Year in 2014 and Alumni Spotlight recipient in 2021. Jesse is currently an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Acting at Shenandoah University in Winchester, VA.
