VO Demo Night: Show, Tell and Tune Up!
Join fellow SAG-AFTRA members (voiceover pros and newcomers alike!) for an evening all about the VO demo. Come to share your demo, celebrate your wins, and get insightful feedback from a panel of seasoned demo experts. Don't have a demo yet? No problem! Come and learn what makes one great, what to avoid, and how to get started. Whether you're a veteran voice artist or just finding your VO voice, you'll walk away with practical tips and a fresh perspective on what your next demo needs.
Panelists include:
- Tim Dadabo -
Tim Dadabo has been in the voice-over business for over 30 years, rising to the top of his profession through diligent hard work, practice, schooling, and hard-charging marketing. Tim has helped multiple actors find their voice and build their sample reels, as well as spec their studio spaces for the best sound on any budget.
- Deb Doetzer -
Deb Doetzer is a proud member of the performer unions SAG-AFTRA and AEA. She is represented exclusively by Stewart Talent in Chicago and New York, and has an extensive list of voice-over credits to her name: most recently she played Gwendolyn Clawthorne on season two of the Disney animated series “The Owl House.” Along with many national television and radio commercials for clients like Skittles, State Farm, Serta, McDonalds and Kraft, Deb’s voiceover career has spanned over 30 years. She can also be heard on the interactive games Red Faction (PA Announcer), Watch Dogs (various) and Injustice: Gods Among Us as the Narrator as well as being the voice of EMMI for healthcare advocate Walters Kluwer for over two decades. She is adjunct faculty at both Columbia College Chicago and the Theater School at Depaul University, an instructor at Acting Studio Chicago and originated the voiceover courses at The Second City Training Center. Deb and her engineer pal Dave Kresl have been creating VO demos for folks for the past 25 years.
- Dave Leffel -
Dave Leffel is a 36 year veteran of the Audio Post-Production community in Chicago.
As a graduate from Millikin University he focused on voice and bass guitar with an emphasis on recording engineering. He has been fortunate to spend his audio career at premiere facilities across Chicago and has been a senior engineer with BAM Studios for over 20 years. He has been a SAG-AFTRA member since 1992 and is currently represented by Stewart Talent. Dave brings a unique perspective from both sides of the studio glass as a performer, director, editor and communicator. He has been producing VO demos and helping talent succeed for over 25 years. He works directly or with coach Jeff Lupetin for Jeff and Dave's VO Adventures. Today he is also an ADR supervisor for all three NBC/One Chicago productions. Dave loves to talk about everything he has learned over the years and share with those who seek his knowledge.
If you'd like to actively participate and receive feedback on your work during the event, please submit links to your demo(s) by June 9 at 5 p.m. You may submit up to two demos, but due to time constraints and the number of interested participants, we cannot guarantee all submissions will be reviewed. If submitting materials, please also submit demos in order of preference - as we might not get to them all.
Please label each demo by genre (e.g., Commercial, Narration, Character) and include a brief note on what or why you'd like it reviewed—for example, it's new, it's old, it's a different direction, or you're seeking feedback on something specific, etc.
