Kendall Cooper launched Kendall Cooper Casting in 2016 in the Washington-Mid-Atlantic area and has specialized in casting period films and television shows like Mercy Street, Turn and Little Women, which is currently in production in Massachusetts. Come to the conservatory to meet Cooper, hear about how she got to where she is today, and learn about the nuances of casting a period production.

Adam Lieblein is a graduate of the UCLA School of Theatre Film and Television, and spent eight years as a producer until 1993 when he opened talent agency Acme Talent & Literary.  In 2015, after teaching the Business of Acting at UCLA for 20 years, Lieblein received the Outstanding Instructor of the Year Award from the Entertainment Studies Division at UCLA Extension. From 2011 to 2017, Lieblein served as a project manager for Casting Networks International and is currently the Director of Business Development for Breakdown Services and Actors Access. 
 



New At The Table Event: Bridezilla Versus Deer

We are now accepting role submissions for the next SAG-AFTRA/IFP At the Table event on Monday, Sept. 24. The script that will be read is Hitch Slapped by Colin Costello. 

The time commitment for this project will be whatever prep work the performer needs to do, such as reading the script; a group rehearsal on Friday, Sept. 21 at 5:30 p.m.; then the actual table read on Monday, Sept. 24 at 6 p.m. in the Kaufherr Resource Center at 1 E. Erie.

Here’s a sneak peek of the script via their log-line: With only 24 hours until her televised Valentine's Day wedding on a reality show, a popular wedding blogger goes bridezilla when she is forced to recover her priceless ring which has been stolen...by a deer.

Casting Director Cooperative with Boston Casting, Monday, July 23

SAG-AFTRA New England’s Casting Director Cooperative program is a cooperative venture for the mutual benefit of New England casting professionals and SAG-AFTRA members in good standing. This is an opportunity for casting professionals to become better acquainted with the wide variety of talent in the local SAG-AFTRA membership.

Boston Casting is currently responsible for local principal casting for the Showtime series SMILF and the feature films Sound of Metal and A Snow White Christmas. They have an extensive casting resume which includes blockbusters Ghostbusters, Central Intelligence and Patriot’s Day.  
 
Registration is open to all paid-up SAG-AFTRA New England Local members who have not auditioned with Boston Casting in the last six months. Registrations will be received on a first-come, first-served basis. All ethnicities and ages strongly encouraged to register. 
 
To submit for Casting Director Cooperative, click hereYou must be logged in to the SAG-AFTRA website and fill in the required fields for registration. You will be notified via email by the end of business on Thursday, July 19 if you receive a space at Casting Director Cooperative. 
 
If you are given a slot in this program and must cancel, please give a 24-hour notice to allow for those on the waiting list to participate. If a cancellation is made with less than a 24-hour notice, the performer will not be eligible for the next Casting Director Cooperative.
 
Three performers will be seen in each 15-minute block. Sides will be sent out the night before. This may be taped. You may or may not receive feedback. 
 
You must bring a copy of your headshot and resume.
 
A waitlist will be kept for performers who did not receive an initial spot. When slots open up, waitlisted performers will be notified.

SAG-AFTRA Foundation Casting Access Online Program

Once again, the Philadelphia Local has partnered with the SAG-AFTRA Foundation to offer a unique opportunity for its members. As part of the Foundation’s Casting Access Online program this class offers actors direct access to perform and video chat with a specified casting director.

The casting director for this event will be Danielle Eskinazi, who has cast over 3,000 national and regional commercials spots. Her clients include: Best Buy, Nike, Burger King, L’Oreal, Doritos and many more. 
 
Prior to the event, actors are to prepare their own commercial piece in accordance with the casting director’s specifications. Actors will then participate in a Q&A and reading with the casting director at the Philadelphia Local office. They will perform one by one via video chat, then receive immediate feedback on their performances.
 
RSVP: Required. You must complete the Online Casting Application through the SAG-AFTRA Foundation prior to registering for the event. Philadelphia members will be fast tracked through this process. Please join the waitlist here as we are seating members from that list. Space is extremely limited and we will be capping attendees at 25 members on a first come, first served basis. We will email those members who have secured a spot.

Join us for a rare, behind-the-scenes look at the submission and selection process that casting directors use to set up auditions. Watch live on-screen demonstrations of how submissions are reviewed, see why certain profiles stand out (or, are skipped over) and learn how to avoid the most common “mistakes” that keep actors out of the audition room.
