Workers Memorial Day

Join SAG-AFTRA New England and the Massachusetts AFL-CIO for the annual Workers Memorial Day Commemoration, a day for remembering, healing and action.

 

When: Friday, April 26, 12 p.m.

Where: In front of the Massachusetts State House (24 Beacon St., Boston, MA 02133)

 

Workers Memorial Day is a day of remembrance where unions gather to honor the memories of workers who were killed, injured, or suffered from illness on the job and raise our voice for stronger workplace health and safety protections for all workers so that one day this event will no longer be needed. Please join us and be sure to wear your SAG-AFTRA shirt! For more information email newengland@sagaftra.org.

SAG-AFTRA-WGA St Paul Solidarity Rally

Where: Rice Park, St. Paul, MN

Join your Twin Cities SAG-AFTRA and WGA union siblings, labor activists, industry partners, allies and special guests to rally in support of a fair contract! Rain or shine, This outdoor rally will be a celebration of working class solidarity through speeches and song(?) music and is open to all who support our cause. Warm up your voices and Bring your friends, family, and supporters!  

If you would like to join in our ad hoc SAG-AFTRA Chorus to help lead the crowd in singing some great union songs, email twincities@sagaftra.org. We will have a brief Zoom “rehearsal” in the days leading up to the event. 

To receive a SAG-AFTRA Strike t-shirt (limited quantity), you must bring your SAG-AFTRA member ID card or digital card in the member app. If you already have SAG-AFTRA gear to wear, please do! Don’t forget a hat, sunscreen and water bottle.

Reservations are not required, but we are asking folks to sign in with our QR code at the rally.

Labor Day Picnic in Tucson

Please join fellow southern Arizona union members at the Pima Area Labor Federation’s 25th Annual Labor Day Picnic on Monday, September 4, 2023 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be speakers, free hotdogs and watermelon, cold drinks, live music and pinatas for the kids!

SAG-AFTRA members are invited to join IATSE Local 415 at their tent. The picnic is free.

Dual Rally in Detroit

In recognition of the National Day of Solidarity coordinated by the AFL-CIO, SAG-AFTRA and WGA, join us for a dual rally in support of the Multi-Media Jobs Act Legislation and in solidarity with SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikers.

This summer the bipartisan Multi-Media Jobs Act was introduced in the Michigan legislature. This bill has the potential to bring film and television jobs back to Michigan. We will discuss what this means and what we can do to help enact this important legislation.  

We will also be rallying in support of the TV/Theatrical/Streaming strike. We will have a limited quantity of SAG-AFTRA STRONG shirts available to members who show their membership card or digital membership card on the SAG-AFTRA app. Shirts are limited, so If you received a SAG-AFTRA shirt at a previous event, please wear it.

The event starts promptly at 6:30 p.m. so please plan to arrive a few minutes early.

2023 Buffalo AFL-CIO Labor Day Parade

Where: Assemble at corner of Dorrance Avenue & Mckinley Parkway

Join your fellow SAG-AFTRA members at the annual Buffalo AFL-CIO Labor Day Parade. We are fighting for the survival of our profession because the AMPTP refuses to step into the 21st century. The future of the industry and the future of labor is at stake. We are #SAGAFTRAstrong and we are on strike. Join us on Labor Day for this important showing of labor solidarity.

The following information is provided by the WNY Area Labor Federation and Buffalo Central Labor Council:

All marchers are asked to park their cars at or near Cazenovia park. Buses will shuttle marchers from Cazenovia Park, starting at the Peter J. Crotty Casino to Dorrance Ave from 10:30 - 11:45 a.m. This will eliminate congestion at the beginning of the parade and members won't have to walk back to get their cars.

  • Please follow all parking signage on the parade route, buses will be available from 1:15 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. to return to your vehicles.
  • The cookout is at the Peter J. Crotty Casino Shelter in Cazenovia Park. Food will be served starting at 1 p.m.

St. Louis Labor Festival

SAG-AFTRA Solidarity Day at the Minnesota State Fair

Where: State Fairgrounds, St. Paul, MN, AFL-CIO Labor Pavilion

 

Who: SAG-AFTRA members, families and supporters

 

Why: THE MINNESOTA AFL-CIO HAS PROCLAIMED SEPTEMBER 4th SAG-AFTRA SOLIDARITY DAY!!

 

This is the perfect way for SAG-AFTRA members to come together to show our solidarity and feel the love from all our allies within the Minnesota AFL-CIO. 

We will hear speeches from local leaders of SAG-AFTRA and labor leaders from around the state. The press will be invited, so let’s have a strong showing! 

 

A limited number of SAG-AFTRA members  will be marching in the labor parade around the fairgrounds. Then you can enjoy a leisurely day at the fair. Families are welcome.

SAG-AFTRA t-shirts will be available on a first-come, first-served basis for members presenting their membership card or displaying your digital card in the SAG-AFTRA member app. 

The pavilion is located about 100 yards from the main fair entrance at Snelling and Dan Patch Ave.

Please note: paid admission is required to enter the Fairgrounds.

No registration is needed, we will see you there!!



Chicago Federation of Labor May Day 5k Run/Walk

Where: Lakeside Center at McCormick Place 2301 S. Jean Baptiste Point DuSable Lake Shore Drive, Chicago

Join your fellow SAG-AFTRANs and Chicagoans for this family-friendly event to commemorate May Day and its importance to the Chicago Labor Movement! The race will begin on the Lakefront Trail near the Lakeside Center at McCormick Place at 8:00 a.m. and continue up the trail through the Museum Campus. The course features a segment on Solidarity Drive and beautiful views of Chicago’s Downtown skyline.

Packet pick-up will begin at 7 a.m. at the event site (no prior pick-up will be available.) Commemorative race t-shirts will be provided to all runners and walkers, and medals will be awarded to winners in age-group categories.

Registration Fee:

Adults - $50

Children under 13 years old - $45

Funds raised from this event will benefit the CFL’s ongoing efforts to support workers in Chicago and Cook County
