More than a third of people in the U.S. suffer from insomnia. Whatever the social costs – and there are many - we experience insomnia as individuals. It just plain feels awful. People struggling with chronic insomnia know well its debilitating effects - bad mood, fatigue, worries about health and performance, curtailed social life, even ruptures in relationships.

There is a natural, drug-free way to restore normal sleep – Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia, known as CBT-I.

CBT-I has a 30-year history of successfully helping people take back control of their sleep system.

Participants will learn:

  • The 3 biological systems that govern sleep and wakefulness
  • How chronic insomnia starts, and what perpetuates it
  • The case against sleep medications, both prescription and over-the-counter, and why they should be avoided
  • A tool kit of CBT-I, mindfulness and self-compassion techniques to start using immediately
  • Mindfulness practices to reduce anxiety and support positive lifestyle changes
  • How to use self-compassion to mitigate perfectionist attitudes that perpetuate insomnia

Emily K. Fitton, LCSW is a psychotherapist in private practice with 10+ years-experience. She discovered CBT-I to deal with her own insomnia. It worked so well that she become a CBT-I practitioner.
