First developed for use in the studio by Nashville local legends The Jordanaires and later refined by another Nashville local legend, Charlie McCoy, the Nashville Number System is a method of transcribing music by denoting the scale degree on which a chord is built. In this special workshop, Nashville bassist, vocalist and SAG-AFTRA National Board member Jim Ferguson explains this unique musical process. The Nashville number system is used both for writing chord charts for musicians and for writing individual melodic parts for vocalists and instrumentalists.
We'll look at how the system works and delve into the process for both uses. Feel free to bring your guitar (or other instruments) and your voice!
This workshop is open to the general public and seating is limited to 30 people.
