On-Set Paperwork & Protocol Workshop 6 PM session

With film and episodic production beginning to pick up in Minnesota, so too has confusion about exactly what kind of paperwork is required before shooting begins, when reporting to set, and following the production wrap.  

You are invited to join staff and Local leaders for a workshop to inform members about what is expected when you show up to work on Day 1.  

Our special guest is Kathy Byrne, Senior Director of TV & Theatrical from the Chicago local. We will be hosting afternoon and evening sessions to accommodate as many busy schedules as possible.

To all members of the Twin Cities Local (covering Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota) who have never attended a new member orientation, or for members who would like a refresher on SAG-AFTRA membership, you are invited to attend one of our upcoming member 101 meetings. 

To accommodate as many schedules as possible we will be holding a Monday midday and Tuesday Evening session.  You need only attend one of the scheduled sessions, but are welcome to attend both if you are interested and available.

Join Labor at the 2024 Pride Parade in Minneapolis

SAG-AFTRA Twin Cities Local members are invited to join the Minnesota AFL-CIO and all your sisters and brothers in Labor in this year’s Pride Parade in Downtown Minneapolis. We are putting together a crew to march and want YOU to be part of it.

 

When: Sunday, June 30, 11 AM

The exact location of where we will gather is TBD but updates will be sent to everyone who RSVPs.

 

Come help us add SAG-AFTRA black and gold to the Pride colors!

Twin Cities SAG Awards Watch party

We will be gathering at the St. Paul Neighborhood Network for this year's show, light cocktail bites will be provided.

Twin Cities Local Virtual Membership Meeting

Please plan to join us for this year's Twin Cities Membership Meeting, happening virtually on Wednesday, December 13, from 6-8 p.m. 

 

In 2023 we welcomed our newest members as streaming & web producers and assignment desk editors at WCCO TV ratified their first union contract. We also managed to enlarge Minnesota’s Film Production Tax Incentive by five-fold. As films and TV show productions get back into action following the strikes we expect to see even more productions being done in Minnesota. 

 

We will be joined by Casting Director extraordinaire Lynn Blumenthal for a discussion about film & TV work, casting, and what Twin Cities members need to be doing to compete for this new work.

SAG-AFTRA-WGA St Paul Solidarity Rally

Where: Rice Park, St. Paul, MN

Join your Twin Cities SAG-AFTRA and WGA union siblings, labor activists, industry partners, allies and special guests to rally in support of a fair contract! Rain or shine, This outdoor rally will be a celebration of working class solidarity through speeches and song(?) music and is open to all who support our cause. Warm up your voices and Bring your friends, family, and supporters!  

If you would like to join in our ad hoc SAG-AFTRA Chorus to help lead the crowd in singing some great union songs, email twincities@sagaftra.org. We will have a brief Zoom “rehearsal” in the days leading up to the event. 

To receive a SAG-AFTRA Strike t-shirt (limited quantity), you must bring your SAG-AFTRA member ID card or digital card in the member app. If you already have SAG-AFTRA gear to wear, please do! Don’t forget a hat, sunscreen and water bottle.

Reservations are not required, but we are asking folks to sign in with our QR code at the rally.

SAG-AFTRA Solidarity Day at the Minnesota State Fair

Join us on Labor Day at the Great Minnesota Get-Together!

 

When: Monday, September 4, 2023 - 10:30 AM to Noon CT

Where: State Fairgrounds, St. Paul, MN, AFL-CIO Labor Pavilion

 

Who: SAG-AFTRA members, families and supporters

 

Why: THE MINNESOTA AFL-CIO HAS PROCLAIMED SEPTEMBER 4th SAG-AFTRA SOLIDARITY DAY!!

 

This is the perfect way for SAG-AFTRA members to come together to show our solidarity and feel the love from all our allies within the Minnesota AFL-CIO. 

We will hear speeches from local leaders of SAG-AFTRA and labor leaders from around the state. The press will be invited, so let’s have a strong showing! 

 

A limited number of SAG-AFTRA members  will be marching in the labor parade around the fairgrounds. Then you can enjoy a leisurely day at the fair. Families are welcome.

SAG-AFTRA t-shirts will be available on a first-come, first-served basis for members presenting their membership card or displaying your digital card in the SAG-AFTRA member app. 

The pavilion is located about 100 yards from the main fair entrance at Snelling and Dan Patch Ave.

Please note: paid admission is required to enter the Fairgrounds.

Who: SAG-AFTRA members and labor allies

SAG-AFTRA members and supporters will show their support for the TV/Theatrical/Streaming strike by gathering for an update and posing for a solidarity photo at the Minnesota AFL-CIO headquarters in St. Paul this Friday. 

Attendees should park in the old Sears parking lot, across the street from the AFL-CIO offices.

Please wear your union gear if you have it! We will have signs and some SAG-AFTRA Strong shirts for members while supplies las, first-come-first-served.

 

Three TC Local Board members and others will be available to discuss why both of the strikes are important to the over 600 members of SAG-AFTRA and WGA in Minnesota and the Dakotas:

  • Randal Berger, SAG-AFTRA National Board Member
  • Mark Bradley, SAG-AFTRA Twin Cities Local Board 1st Vice President
  • Casey Lewis, SAG-AFTRA Twin Cities Local Board President Elect

 

SAG-AFTRA members will be able to sign up for the Local Strike Committee and volunteer for picket duty, should the need arise. We are also looking for volunteers to work at our kiosk at the AFL-CIO Labor Pavilion at the Minnesota State Fair (August 24- September 4).  

 

Those who can't make the gathering and want to volunteer for the Strike Committee and/or State Fair duty should email twincities@sagaftra.org.
