An Afternoon with Thomas Hanley

You and a guest are invited to an afternoon with Thomas Hanley and a special screening of On the Waterfront.

Thomas Hanley is a former longshoreman who appeared opposite Marlon Brando as "Tommy," a 14-year-old gang kid who flies pigeons with Brando from a Hoboken rooftop. Following the screening will be a special presentation to him by SAG-AFTRA N.Y. Local President Rebecca Damon and a Q&A led by National Board member Adrian Martinez.

Join us for a fascinating and educational evening hosted by the New York Background Advisory Committee and the MOVE Committee featuring veteran background actors.

The presenters will discuss everything you need to know to be at your professional best from information on vouchers, to wardrobe and social etiquette for work on a New Media, Theatrical or Commercial set. You will have the opportunity to ask questions and get advice from fellow background actors who have successfully mastered the craft of working as professional background performers. Whether you’re a new member or restarting your professional career, this is a great way to gain more insight about background artistry.

This workshop is only open to paid-up SAG-AFTRA members in good standing — no guests are allowed. Parents/guardians of performers under 18 years old are welcome. SAG-AFTRA members, please bring your membership card (paid through April 30, 2019 or Oct. 31, 2019) for admittance.



An Evening With SAG-AFTRA: Low Budget Theatrical Agreements

Join SAG-AFTRA and The Greater Philadelphia Film Office for a panel discussion outlining the new provisions of the various Low Budget Theatrical Agreements. Join guest speakers from SAG-AFTRA leadership and producers/actors who have worked under these Agreements to learn about the following topics… project eligibility and criteria, signatory process, performer rates and the new “Pathway to Membership” program under these Agreements.
