Volunteer Opportunity with Ready Readers

Ready Readers is always seeking high-quality readers and storytellers to inspire our children to love books. SAG-AFTRA members would bring an amazing gift of presentation and enthusiasm to truly excite the children. Part of the success of the Ready Readers program is that the same volunteer reads to the same classroom of  children every week at the same time, creating strong bonds.  Volunteers would need to commit weekly for 30 minutes plus drive time. Ready Readers will provide all of the training, mentoring, workshops, resources and support for SAG-AFTRA volunteers.

Ready Readers is a unique St. Louis nonprofit organization whose purpose is to inspire preschool-age children from low-income communities to become readers. Ready Readers has 495 trained volunteers who read weekly to almost 10,000 preschool-age children attending 179 early childhood programs in the St. Louis metropolitan and surrounding areas.

In addition to weekly reading sessions, each child receives at least six high-quality, new books throughout the year. During the last school year, we gave away 64,550 books!
