SYNOPSIS

Headshots are an actors' calling card, but is it a professional picture that matches with how the buyers see you? Does your picture accurately communicate the product that is being sold? In this session we will discuss what your headshot is communicating and if that matches with what is coming into the audition room.

Please email copies of the headshots (MAX 2) that are submitted the most to thebusiness@sagaftra.foundation, by 7 p.m. the evening prior to the class. The class may not get through all headshots. 

If you have taken The Branding Workshop, please bring a typed copy of your branding sentence. It is not required that you take The Branding Workshop before you take this session.

Small Group Sessions are facilitated discussions with the goal of digging deeper into some of the information and advice shared within the panels. These sessions provide a time to break down concepts into practical action items by which an actor can individually apply to their professional pursuits. This session will last for 2 - 3 hours. For a while now, home recording has been important to voiceover performers.  These days, however, it is essential and a priority.  In this class we want to share concepts and approaches to help performers increase their understanding of the home recording studio.  This comprehensive discussion will touch on studio considerations, cable types, microphones, pre-amps, interfaces, headphones, DAWS (recording software), remote recording solutions and more.

REQUIREMENTS

If you are about to narrate your first audiobook or already have a few completed audiobooks to your name, this workout provides you an opportunity to work with your fellow performers and have some fun in a supportive space.  It  is all about sharing your creative ideas with the group and getting some instant feedback on your work for our instructor.  It is important that you read through your material before you arrive at the workout.

Class takes place from 1:30-4:30 p.m. PT / 4:30 - 7:30 p.m. ET

REQUIREMENTS

Two (2) FICTION (no children's books, self-help books, instruction manuals; etc.) book excerpts (that you are familiar with), each no less than 2 minutes in length (time yourself when practicing before the workout).  

If you are completely new to audiobook narration (have never done audiobook narration) try the Beginner Bundle: Intro to Audiobook Workouts class before registering for this offering.  

The Lab will not provide reading materials.

Two to three actors will join forces and push the limits of what is written on the page. Step out of your comfort zone and elevate the material with your creative choices and bold collaborative performances. It is agood way to improve your timing and help you sound more conversational.

By taking the time to narrow down what an actor really wants to focus on it can free them up to deepen their pursuit of job opportunities. In this session, we will examine the different ways an actor can focus their career goals and discuss how one can create a system by which to effectively target the industry professionals within that area.

This class is designed for members interested in developing and writing their own screenplay. During the first half of the class, members will learn the fundamentals of screenwriting, including development of new ideas, dramatic structure, and character development, among other concepts. During the second half, members will learn screenplay formatting by using various software options, including Final Draft and Movie Magic Screenwriter. 

This class requires basic computer skills. No exceptions. No materials are required.

This 3-hour workshop is for members interested in learning how to build and edit their demo reel using Davinci Resolve, a powerful video editing software that is currently FREE for use on both Macs and PC's. In this workshop, you will use your own video clips to assemble and edit your own demo reel. You must have the software in order to participate in this online class. 

Please Note: This class is not an introduction on how to use a computer, so basic computer skills are needed.  No exceptions.

Members must bring the following to class:

At least 2 video clips in MPEG-4 (.MP4) or Quicktime (.MOV) format.

Requirements:

• Working knowledge of a Mac or PC
• Desire and ability to learn to edit digital video footage using Davinci Resolve installed on their computer

You must have taken Part 1 (Intro to Screenwriting) before taking this class. No exceptions.

This class is designed for members who have previously taken the Part 1 class (Intro to Screenwriting) AND have completed a first draft of their feature-length screenplay. In this class, we will will pick up where the first class left off. Members will learn the fundamentals of dramatic writing, specifically dramatizing your story through classroom exercises. You do not have to bring your script to class. 

This class requires basic computer skills. No exceptions. No materials are required.
