Washington-Mid Atlantic Mental Health Group Meeting

Please join the Washington-Mid Atlantic Mental Health Group in a monthly group session to discuss the challenges that you might face in your personal and professional life. The group session is a safe space where you will have the opportunity to explore your emotions, gain insights, learn about yourself, and, if time permits, get caring, sympathetic and empathetic support from your peers. Active participation in a group session can encourage good mental health and be a great healing tool as you can help others as you help yourself.

Group will be moderated by SAG-AFTRA member Nicole Hakim Yohn. Nicole is a Peer  Recovery Specialist for depression and an experienced group moderator. She has  studied under Craig Hedley CPRS; renowned DBT expert Lane Pederson Psy. D. LP C DBT; EMDR under Megan Boardman LSCW, ACADC, CCT P-11, EMDR-C;  PHD expert in CBT Charles Jacob; DBT under Katelyn Baxter-Musser, MSWCBT, C DBT, C-EMDR, and trauma under international trauma expert Janina Fisher, PHD.

New England Holiday Party

Join the New England NextGen Committee and fellow members for a party-cularly, unforgettable, winter-ful night with light apps and no-host cash bar. 'Tis the season, so sled into the holiday spirit with SAG-AFTRA! Mic check, one-two -- stay later for post-party open karaoke on The Wild Rover stage street-level.

Holiday Open House 2024

Please join us as we celebrate the holiday season! New York Local President Ezra Knight, Executive Vice President Linda Powell, and the New York Local Board and staff look forward to the opportunity to celebrate with you. There will be a holiday surprise for the first 200 members in attendance.

Due to Holiday Open House preparations, members attending this event should plan to arrive at 1900 Broadway’s lobby after 1:55 p.m. Your understanding is appreciated.​

Refreshments will be served.

Admittance is on a first come, first served basis. No reservations necessary.

Meisner and the Art of Listening Workshop

Join Frank Parrillo for an engaging workshop focused on Meisner’s powerful technique, highlighting the art of listening and responding truthfully in the moment. This seminar will guide you through a series of exercises, scene work, and practical feedback to enhance your ability to connect emotionally with your scene partners. 

Workshop Information 

  • You will explore Meisner’s foundational Repetition Exercise. As you move through these exercises, you’ll discover how listening with genuine intent can create organic, truthful moments on stage and screen. 
  • Afterwards, participants will pair up for scene exercises. You will receive personalized feedback, helping you refine your approach and sharpen your instincts. 
  • Throughout the scene work, you will explore how active listening unlocks more genuine and dynamic performance and how to be fully present in the moment. 
  • The workshop will end with a group discussion and Q&A. 

Instructions for Attendees

  • Wear comfortable clothing for movement
  • Bring a notebook and pen for notes
  • A short scene will be given out at the beginning of the conservatory

About Frank Parrillo 

Frank Parrillo is an experienced acting coach specializing in the Meisner technique, with a focus on helping actors achieve emotional authenticity in their performances. He has worked with numerous rising stars and is known for his hands-on, practical teaching style that empowers actors to connect deeply with their characters.
