Mastering the Audition for Teens with Lynnanne Zager

SAG-AFTRA young performers ages 10-17 are invited to participate in this special event! Voiceover veteran Lynnanne Zager will help teen actors learn the ins and outs of commercial voiceover auditions and instruct them on how to use their acting chops to book voiceover jobs. In the SAG-AFTRA Foundation’s state-of-the-art recording studio, performers will record copy while Zager offers direction and coaching. Come prepared to show her what you can do.

Requirements:

  • Students must complete a VOL application in order to attend. (Attending an orientation, however, will not be required for this workshop.)
  • Students must be between the ages of 10 - 17.
  • Once the application is completed, email voiceover lab administrator Nithya Rajendran at nrajendran@sagaftra.foundation with the following information in the subject line: First and last name – age (Ex. Ashley Stone – 12)
  • Please respond by Friday, Nov. 2.

Note: Parents and guardians will not be able to attend.

Lynnanne Zager is one of the voiceover community’s most respected actors, teachers and casting directors. After receiving her BFA and MFA from NYU Tisch School of the Arts, she became talent coordinator of Hanna-Barbera Studios with 29 cartoon shows on the air, including Scooby Doo, The New Flintstones, Richie Rich and Super Friends and was part of the producing and casting team for the original cartoon series The Smurfs. She has been a voiceover actor for over 25 years. Lynnanne's voice has been heard in more than 500 feature films, television programs, commercials, industrials and video games. Having a passion for passing it on to the next generation (as Don LaFontaine did with her!), she is very proud to be mentoring and teaching voiceover acting in all genres to young actors and to be a part of the SAG-AFTRA Foundation’s Don LaFontaine Voiceover Lab and the EIF Voiceover Lab in New York.

Personalization: What is it?

Join Marilyn McIntyre as she teaches and discusses how the fusion of personal experience and imagination allows an actor to fully personalize the character and fictional circumstances.  
 
Actors who would like to perform a monologue and receive feedback should arrive 15-20 minutes early. Bring a headshot, resume and two copies of your monologue. Please have the material prepared to answer:

  • Who am I?
  • Who am I talking to?
  • What do I want? Why? What’s in the way?

Acting professionally for over 45 years, Marilyn McIntyre has played leading roles on and off Broadway with several major regional theatre companies. McIntyre has garnered a number of awards for her theatre work including Ovation and LA Drama Critics Circle. McIntyre has worked extensively in television (Greys Anatomy, Cold Case, Watch Over Me - a series regular, et al). Her film credits include Heaven’s Rain, On Holiday, and First Daughter to name a few. McIntyre can also be seen in the cult favorite live-action short, George Lucas In Love. McIntyre is a SAG-AFTRA member and has a MFA from Penn State and BFA from University of North Carolina.

Kirk Baltz has been a working actor in film, theater and television for 25 years and has worked with noted film directors such as Chantal Akerman, Warren Beatty, Oliver Stone, John Woo, Kevin Costner and Quentin Tarantino. Kirk trained extensively as an actor in New York City and Los Angeles, studying the Meisner technique and Strasberg-based work. Baltz has been teaching acting classes since 1995 and continues to offer acting classes and private coaching in Los Angeles as well as online sessions.
