The SAG-AFTRA National Board voted unanimously to approve a new contract with Telemundo Television Studios, delivering significant gains to Spanish-language performers. The four-year contract is retroactive to Oct. 1, 2024.
This agreement continues to build on the relationship established when Telemundo performers first unionized with SAG-AFTRA in 2017, and includes highlights such as:
- Artificial intelligence provisions based on TV Agreement terms.
- Annual rate increases of 8% effective Oct. 1, 2024; 3% effective Oct. 1, 2025; 3% effective Oct. 1, 2026; and 3% effective Oct. 1, 2027.
- Increase Pension & Health contribution rate by 1.5% to 13% over four-year term.
- Increase foreign residuals to 1.15% of receipts (currently 0.54%), increase domestic residuals to 1.7% of receipts and eliminate split for subscription streaming and other platforms (currently 1.08%/0.54%), and first-ever residuals for Peacock originals produced by Telemundo for exhibition on Peacock after 90-day streaming window. Crediting against reuse payments for exhibition on Peacock has been eliminated.
- Increase meal penalties. Increase meal time grace period from 15 minutes to 20 minutes.
- Increase overtime pay to double time after 12 hours daily and time-and-one-half after 40 hours per week (currently 1.5x after 12 hours).
- Require the engagement of “qualified Spanish-speaking intimacy coordinators” for scenes involving intimacy.
- Coverage expanded to include stunt coordinators.
- Add Martin Luther King Day and Juneteenth as holidays in the agreement.
