On April 16, 2025, the New Orleans Local Organizing & Outreach Committee arranged for a presentation from the Entertainment Community Fund for New Orleans Local members. Led by Managing Director of Social Services Tamar Shapiro, the session covered the extensive list of services the Fund provides for all members of the entertainment community. The information provided was extremely specific and very useful to all members. Shapiro and her staff encouraged those attending to spread the word about the services provided by the Fund, including social and financial services, career enrichment, health care resources, and programs for both seniors and young performers — just to name a few.
One local member who was in attendance and has already participated in several of the Fund’s programs, shared, “The people at the Fund could not have been more helpful.”
The Fund’s free programs and services are built to address the unique needs of people working in the performing arts and entertainment community. They provide support for professionals across the country in film, theater, television, music, opera, radio and dance; they’re for everyone onstage, on camera and behind the scenes. In addition to its website, there is a portal which provides an even quicker way to locate specific information. The New Orleans Local is serviced by the ECF Central Region office, which can be reached at (312) 372-0989 or central@entertainmentcommunity.org.
