Meditation for Actors — A Practical Approach
In this interactive workshop, SAG-AFTRA member Parlan McGaw will share potent and practical
tools adapted from the meditative tradition that can help you connect more deeply with
yourself and your emotional truth and bring more of yourself to all the work you do.
In this interactive workshop, SAG-AFTRA member Parlan McGaw will show us how meditation
can be a potent and practical tool for us as actors. Meditation helps you connect more deeply
with yourself, and it cultivates an open state of mind that is both creative and receptive.
In this workshop, you’ll learn the practice of mindfulness-awareness meditation, and with that
ground we’ll begin to apply it specifically to acting. Parlan will lead us in dynamic exercises —
including a simple on-the-spot practice that connects actors to an inner source of confidence
and is a powerful antidote to audition nerves and stage fright.
Whether you’re new to meditation or have long experience on the cushion, the techniques
you’ll learn this evening will help you in auditions, on the set, and riding the ups and downs of
the business.
