Atlanta Pride Parade

Join your Atlanta Local fellow members as we march behind our SAG-AFTRA banner during the Atlanta Pride Parade! We will once again be joining IATSE in celebration!

 

The parade starts at noon at the Atlanta Civic Center Marta Station. Members participating must be at the parade location between 10:30 and 11 a.m
 

Members registering will receive further instructions on when and where to meet along with instructions on how to get a complimentary SAG-AFTRA Pride t-shirt, while supplies last in a follow up email.  
 

The Atlanta Pride Celebration is the largest gathering of LGBTQ+ people and our allies in the Southeast. The event features a two day festival with music, merchandise, art and food along with a parade and a week's worth of educational and social events. The Atlanta Pride Parade is the biggest event of the Festival. Drawing over 100,000 people along the streets of Midtown Atlanta! Stepping off from the Atlanta Civic Center MARTA Station and continuing down Peachtree Street, the parade will turn right onto 10th Street and end a block from the Charles Allen Gates to Piedmont Park. 
 

How to Support: Remember, you don't have to attend in person to participate. You may show your support on social media, use the hashtag #AtlantaPride, #SagAftraStrong and #SagAftraMember, particularly during the parade or when you attend the 2024 Pride Festivities.

The Diversity & Inclusion Committee invites you to a Thriving Together Atlanta Lunch event co-hosted by Georgia Public Broadcasting and the City of Atlanta Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs. 

Event Highlights: 

● A Meal: Share a free meal with a diverse group of industry professionals

 ● A Play: Experience a thought-provoking short play from Out of Hand Theater

 ● A Conversation: Engage in guided discussion led by trained facilitators 

Connect and be inspired to build a more equitable Atlanta in this transformational experience. 

Launched by a short play, this event brings together strangers and friends from diverse backgrounds to talk about complex issues. We invite you to join us as we examine Atlanta’s complex history and raise awareness about critical social issues around racial discrimination in healthcare, food insecurity, and income disparity. Through art, we hope to inspire action and build partnerships to create positive change. 

Food and Drink 

This meal will include vegan options. You will be asked to indicate dietary requirements after registration is confirmed. 

This event is limited to 50 members. There will be a waitlist.

The SAG-AFTRA Atlanta Voiceover Committee invites you to Smart Post Atlanta Recording Studios for a VO community meet and greet. 

 

Attendees will receive exclusive access to a tour of the Smart Post Atlanta recording facilities. They will also have the opportunity to participate in live breakout recording sessions with Smart Post audio engineers and an opportunity to network with other VO professionals in the area as well as the VO industry vendors located in the Smart Post Atlanta corporate suite. 

 

Smart Post Atlanta is an established destination for TV and film post audio production in Atlanta, run by a staff with decades experience in the industry. Don't miss this opportunity to learn from and get hands on experience from working professionals in the business!

 

Light food and refreshments will be provided.

Atlanta Local Conservatory: Insight into the Casting Process

The SAG-AFTRA Atlanta Local Muriel Moore/Danny Nelson Conservatory presents: Insight into the Casting Process. A Q & A  with Clifton Gutterman. 

 

Clifton Gutterman is a multi-hyphenate Atlanta entertainment veteran who has performed, directed, produced, and cast projects for stage and screen professionally, since 2001. Clifton led the film and television division of Atlanta’s Big Picture Casting where he cast film, television, animation, and web projects. Previously, Clifton was Associate Artistic Director and Casting Director from 2012-2020 at Theatrical Outfit. He was the Alliance Theatre’s Artistic and Casting Assistant from 2001-2005 and Producer in Residence at Actor’s Express for the 2015-2016 season. Clifton has cast over 150 professional plays, musicals, films, and shows over two decades.

60 members will participate. There will be a Wait List. If you must cancel, you must do so prior to 24 hours of the event so another member may participate. Doors will close at 7:05 p.m. No one will be admitted after that time out of respect for our presenter and all participants.

 

Also, if you are a “no-show,” per Conservatory rules, you will be exempted from any events for the following month. 

Our Conservatory will be collecting non-perishable food items for the Atlanta Community Food Bank.

The Atlanta Local Conservatory Presents: Improv for On-Camera Actors

The Muriel Moore/Danny Nelson SAG-AFTRA Conservatory presents:Improv for On-Camera Actors with Eric Goins. This is not your typical improv workshop! Designed for the working actor, this workshop is a practical application of improv designed to help on-camera actors boost their creativity, spontaneity, and authenticity. It is perfect for actors wanting to improve their audition skills, develop their ability to create characters, feel more confident and inspired on set and bring a sense of play to their work.

Topics covered include:

  • Applying the Principles of Improvisation as an On-Camera Actor
  • Enhancing Spontaneity and Creativity
  • Understanding Scene Context
  • Utilizing Status and Physicality
  • Elevating Your Scene Partner
  • Practicing Active Listening and Reacting in the Moment
  • Inserting the Humanity into Your Story

By participating in the workshop, actors can learn to think on their feet, connect with their scene partners, and create dynamic and engaging performances. 

Only 20 members will participate. There will be a waitlist. If you must cancel, you must do so within 24 hours of the event so another member may participate. 

Doors will close at 7:05 p.m. No one will be admitted after that time out of respect for our presenter and participants. 

Our Conservatory will be collecting non-perishable food items for Intown Cares.
