The SAG-AFTRA San Francisco-Northern California Local continues its sponsorship of the Mill Valley Film Festival, now in its 40th year of existence. Outlets reported that this year’s film festival drew a record 75,000-plus attendees, who flocked to Marin County to get an early glimpse at contenders for the upcoming film awards season, discover some of the world’s best films, and celebrate the many talented local actors and filmmakers in the Bay Area.
As part of its sponsorship, the local was allotted an informational display in the film festival’s filmmaker lounge. The display was appreciated by the producers, directors, filmmakers and actors in attendance. With more than 330 visiting filmmakers and actors from around the world, the local was able to engage with producers and directors from overseas, as well as local filmmakers hoping to film their projects in the Bay Area. The booth generated awareness of the local talent pool and helped familiarize filmmakers with SAG-AFTRA’s contracts. The local remains optimistic about increasing the amount of work in Northern California through engagement opportunities such as these.
