Join the Washington-Mid Atlantic Local for the popular “SAG-AFTRA 101” workshop. This conversation will provide attendees with information on performer’s rights and protections, present an overview of some of the key elements of the Commercials, Corporate/Educational and Non-Broadcast, Television, and Theatrical Agreements, discuss the benefits of membership, and share the resources available to members of SAG-AFTRA. This presentation is perfect for new and veteran members alike. 

At the end of the presentation, there will also be an opportunity to address questions. If there is a question you would like addressed, you may submit it in advance to Colin Bouchard at colin.bouchard@sagaftra.org.

Buffalo AFL-CIO Labor Day Parade 2024

Where: Assemble at Dorrance Ave. & McKinley Parkway, Buffalo, NY

Join your fellow SAG-AFTRA members at the annual Buffalo AFL-CIO Labor Day Parade. 

10 a.m. ET Line Up | 11 a.m. ET Parade Begins

T-shirts will be given out on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last.

The following information is provided by the WNY Area Labor Federation and Buffalo Central Labor Council:

All parade participants are asked to park their cars at or near Cazenovia park. Buses will shuttle participants from Cazenovia Park, starting at the Peter J. Crotty Casino to Dorrance Ave from 10 - 11 a.m. This will eliminate congestion at the beginning of the parade and participants won't have to walk back to get their cars.Please follow all parking signage on parade route, buses will be available from 1 - 2 p.m. to return to your vehicles. Buses will also be in the parade. Any participants wishing to ride may do so on a first-come basis.

The cookout is at the Peter J. Crotty Casino Shelter in Cazenovia Park. Food will be served starting at Noon. Please dispose of garbage properly. Garbage totes are for trash, and recycling bins are for recycling.

Game On Los Angeles! Video Game Strike Picket - Disney Character Voices

Please note: This is not the same location as last year’s TV/Theatrical pickets. 

SAG-AFTRA’s strike against video game employers went into effect on Friday, July 26. Please show your support by joining video game performers as they picket at Disney Character Voices.

Remember to bring water, sun protection and your SAG-AFTRA gear! Members, friends, family and allies are welcome, but please leave your furry friends at home as it will be hot and potentially unsafe for them. If you are not feeling well, please stay home -- there will be plenty of other opportunities to show your support.

No registration needed. Please bring your SAG-AFTRA member ID card or digital card on the SAG-AFTRA app to check in when you arrive.



Celebrate Union Night at Husky Stadium

Every year the King County labor movement comes together to celebrate Labor Day. This year, you are invited to join MLK Labor for "Union Night at Husky Stadium" on Saturday, Aug. 31. There will be a pre-game tailgate that will take place in the "Zone" tailgate area on the east side of Husky Stadium starting at 6 p.m. Kickoff for the UW football game is at 8 p.m.

Tickets to the game need to be purchased in advance in order to be seated with other unions. UW has offered MLK Labor affiliates discounted tickets for $18 if purchased through this link.

The tailgate will include several food trucks and MLK Labor will have a designated section for union members. Wear your union colors!

You are encouraged to take the light rail or other methods of transit as parking is challenging around the stadium; however there are parking options on campus.

August New Mexico Local Coffee Connection

Join the SAG-AFTRA LA Conservatory for Booking More by Worrying Less with David Blue!

This masterclass is intended to accommodate Advanced Level actors. Please assess your own abilities accordingly when considering registering for this workshop.

Hate the entire audition process? Exhausted trying to always figure out what "they're looking for?" Tired of obsessing for days if you "did the RIGHT thing?" Join this fun, one-day workshop to develop usable techniques you can apply to your auditions and performances, to always know you are bringing the height of your talent to each and every opportunity, consistently. -- And learn it from a working actor who has proven these techniques across the globe in TV, Film, theater, VO and more.

Directions:
The first fifteen registrants will be assigned sides to work. Those registrants will be expected to come prepared with their assigned sides. 

A staff member will reach out to you after you have registered. 

The following registrants will be allowed to attend as observers. Please note this is a large class and not everyone will have the opportunity to be selected to work.

Description:

Given the opportunity to express yourself, where do you stop and what do you stop yourself with? Award winning actor Karen Austin unpacks self-sabotage, your discomfort zone, the leap into strong choices, and practical techniques for delivering your best. The opposite of fear is work. There may be group exercises and a few participants may perform on-camera, time permitting. 

Best for performers over the age of 18. 

About Karen Austin

Her career includes decades of lead roles on film, stage & TV,  LA Drama Critics Circle & Dramalogue Awards, an M.A. from Northwestern University and election to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences. She has taught at Stanford, the NY Actors Institute and the LA SAG-AFTRA Conservatory. She co-leads the Mastery of Creativity Workshop, and holds a weekly studio scene study class.

CPR Training Hosted by the New England Safety Committee

CPR certification takes just a few short hours, but can help you add years to someone's life. Hosted by the New England Safety Committee, you will have an opportunity to obtain the information and skills to help adults, children and infants during cardiac emergencies. Whether you require certification, or you simply want to learn how to respond in the event of an emergency, this in-person course makes it easy to get CPR certified and be prepared for the moments that matter.
