New York Local Member Orientation

Join your fellow New York Local members at a member orientation. We'll be covering contracts, benefits of membership, ways to get involved, and how to make the most of your SAG-AFTRA membership.

The orientation will start at 2 p.m ET and will include time for Q&A.

Acting Masterclass Workshop

Mar 14, 2024 - 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM CDT

Where: Online

The Nashville Local is offering our members a FREE live Virtual Tom Todoroff Masterclass workshop on March 14. In this class, instruction is done by way of demonstration. So attendees may volunteer to perform a 1-2 minute monologue and receive personalized coaching in front of the group. Tom will coach several actors on their prepared pieces to demonstrate how to use Guideposts, Viewpoints, Vocal Variation and The Four Agreements to craft the most dynamic, compelling performance possible.

Attendees are also welcome to observe only. Time Allowing, Tom will answer questions from the group at the end.  

In this class, you'll learn about a clear, practical set of tools for text analysis and rehearsal that will allow you to feel relaxed, grounded and confident for every performance. This is also an opportunity to gain valuable insights into the film, tv and theater industry. RSVP today to save your place!

WHO IS TOM TODOROFF? Tom is a producer, director, actor and performance coach who has directed, coached and/or acted opposite Peter O’Toole, Harrison Ford, Samuel L. Jackson, Liam Neeson, Sasha Alexander, Allison Janney, Tony Goldwyn, Claire Danes and Blythe Danner among others. Tom's background includes training at Juilliard in NYC and with Stella Adler as well as a 15-year working relationship with Michael Shurtleff (famed casting director & author of Audition). Tom's students range from the most accomplished TV, film and theater professionals, to passionate enthusiasts who are just beginning to explore the world of acting, directing and storytelling. Tom is a member of Actors' Equity Association, the Producers Guild of America, the Stage Directors and Choreographers Society, the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, The American Dialect Society, the Linguistic Society of America, the Voice and Speech Trainers Association, the Creative Coalition, the National Speakers Association and a proud SAG-AFTRA member for 42 years! In the interest of time and fairness, names will be pulled from a 'hat' to determine who will perform during the class - Tom will work with as many actors as time allows. If you request to perform, please be off-book and ready to go if called upon!

2023 TV Animation Agreements Informational Webinar #2

The SAG-AFTRA Executive Committee and TV Animation Agreements Negotiating Committee recommend a “YES” vote  to ratify the important gains negotiated for the 2023 Television Animation Agreements. 

All eligible affected members were mailed a postcard on Friday, March 1, 2024, with instructions and a PIN number on how to vote online at vote.ivsballot.com/TVanimation or how to request a paper ballot. If necessary, you can retrieve your PIN number at the voting website by clicking “Find My PIN.”

SAG-AFTRA will hold two national TV Animation Agreements Informational Meetings on Thursday, March 7, 2024.

When: Thursday, March 7, 2024 3-5 p.m. PT/ 5-7 p.m. CT/ 6-8 p.m. ET. Click here to RSVP. Please RSVP by 9 am PT on March 7, 2024.

CFL May Day 5k

Apr 28, 2024 - 6:00 AM to 6:00 AM CDT

Where: 2301 S. Jean Baptiste Point DuSable Lake Shore Drive, Chicago

Join the Chicago Federation of Labor for the May Day 5K Run and Walk on Sunday, April 28, 2024!

Individuals of all ages and fitness levels are encouraged to participate in this family-friendly event to commemorate May Day and its importance to the Chicago Labor Movement. The race will begin on the Lakefront Trail near the Lakeside Center at McCormick Place at 8:00 a.m. and continue up the trail through the Museum Campus. The course features a segment on Solidarity Drive and beautiful views of Chicago’s Downtown skyline.

Packet pick-up will begin at 7 a.m. at the event site. Commemorative race t-shirts will be provided to all runners and walkers, and medals will be awarded to winners in age-group categories. All participants will also receive a complimentary beverage at the post-race party and awards ceremony at Boat Drinks (an outdoor bar and grill located at 600 E Waldron Drive along the Lakefront Trail) following the race.

This year's race coincides with Workers' Memorial Day 2024 and will recognize the workers killed, injured or made ill on the job.

The Game Night Game Show - Presented by the Next Gen & Chicago Conservatory Committees

THE GAME NIGHT GAME SHOW!  
A mashup of our favorite trivia game shows, with an Industry twist...okay, 3-4 twists.

Presented by the Next Gen and Conservatory Committees, The Game Night Game Show will be a fun evening of food, beverages, camaraderie and SAG-AFTRA themed trivia games modeled after your favorite game shows!


Want to be part of the fun? Your mission, should you choose to accept it:

  • Fly solo or bring a friend (union or pre-union**) 
  • Bring a snack to share
  • Prepare for a trivia night like no other with your chance to win "100 Grand" (as well as some serious bragging rights!) 

(If you are feeling uncertain of your trivia skills - fear not, this is a team activity and you can TOTALLY copy off of your neighbor's test.)

Join us and, who knows, you may even learn a thing or two about your next contract!

New England Conservatory - Micro-Budget Agreement: A tool for your career

The SAG-AFTRA Micro-Budget Project Agreement provides a streamlined signatory process for independent producers who are creating a dramatic entertainment project with a budget of $20,000 or less per picture or per episode.

At this New England Conservatory, hear from local members who have produced their own content under the Micro-Budget and who have used the agreement to flip non-union jobs. You’ll have an opportunity to ask questions and learn how you can apply these tools to your own career.
