An intimate drama, Beautiful Boy is a deeply moving portrait of a family’s unwavering love and commitment to each other in the face of their son’s addiction and his attempts at recovery. The film was adapted for the screen by Felix van Groeningen and Luke Davies from two acclaimed memoirs — one from father and journalist David Sheff (Beautiful Boy) and one from his son, Nic Sheff (Tweak). Directed by Felix van Groeningen, Beautiful Boy features an ensemble cast that includes Steve Carell, Timothée Chalamet, Maura Tierney, Kaitlyn Dever, Lisagay Hamilton, Timothy Hutton and Amy Ryan.



Kew Gardens Festival of Cinema Film Festival, Aug. 3-11

Kew Gardens Festival of Cinema returns for a second year at a new venue, the United Artists Midway in Forest Hills, as part of a sponsorship with Regal Cinemas. This 10-day event features over 100 films from over 20 countries and free activities for everyone, including a SAG-AFTRA workshop, a distribution panel and an outdoor screening.

SAG-AFTRA members and guests are invited to celebrate women in the arts and Houston’s annual SWAN DAY (Support Women in the Arts) sponsored by the SAG-AFTRA National Women’s Committee and Houston-Austin Local. Network with like-minded creatives and enjoy the enthusiasm of Houston’s film, television and arts community. Experience performances by singer Winona Wilde and Bay Area Houston Ballet & Theatre and film clips by local filmmakers.
