Zachary, a filmmaker and actor himself, has had years of experience working with actors and has been working with our members in the LA local since the On-Camera Lab opened in late 2019. Twisted Wave is an intuitive and affordable DAW made specifically for Macs. If you have some working experience with Twisted Wave and are looking to expand your knowledge and understanding of its functionality or looking for ways to improve your workflow, this program (class) is especially important for you. HaveTwisted Wave loaded onto your computer and ready to go, so you can follow along with the instruction, while gaining hands-on experience. This class will not focus on the iOS (iPad/iPhone) versions of Twisted Wave.

REQUIREMENTS

Twisted Wave is a Mac Only DAW (Digital Audio Workstation).  You will need a Mac for this class.

Participants must stay for the entire program (4:30 - 6:30 p.m. PT / 7:30 - 9:30 p.m. ET).

Some experience using Twisted Wave (or other DAW) is suggested. If you are new to the application, launch it and familiarize yourself with some of it's options (go to twistedwave.com and read the owner's manual) or look for online Twisted Wave basic tutorials on the Internet before class. This class will provide an overview of Twisted Wave's functions and help you refine your workflow. For beginners, it may take some time to master the software., but with practice your skill with the software will improve.

To optimize learning and to follow along, bring your Mac laptop (no iPads, no PCs) with a purchased or 30-day trial version of Twisted Wave downloaded, functioning and ready to use.  This is recommended, but not mandatory. Get your copy of Twisted Wave.  The URL: https://twistedwave.com  If you have previously attended Twisted Wave 101 and already have the software downloaded to your computer, there is no need to download the software again.

Two or more voiceover actors tackling the same copy at the same time in the same recording space is an exciting proposition. It requires good timing and vocal dexterity to keep the dialogue sounding interesting, lively and conversational. It's a bookable skill that takes practice and focus. We will introduce concepts and direction that will help individual performances mesh to benefit the collective  read. This program is specifically tuned for performers that are new to dialogue voiceover and copy will be provided by the VO Lab.

REQUIREMENTS

If you previously participated in a Beginner Bundle: Intro to Dialogue Voiceover, Dynamic Duos: Commercial Workouts for Two (or Three) or Dynamic Duos: Dialogue Voiceover Workout, you are not eligible to participate in this offering. Instead, look for our next  Dynamic Duos: Workouts for Two (or Three) and sign up.

SYNOPSIS

Headshots are an actors' calling card, but is it a professional picture that matches with how the buyers see you? Does your picture accurately communicate the product that is being sold? In this session we will discuss what your headshot is communicating and if that matches with what is coming into the audition room.

Please email copies of the headshots (MAX 2) that are submitted the most to thebusiness@sagaftra.foundation, by 7 p.m. the evening prior to the class. The class may not get through all headshots. 

If you have taken The Branding Workshop, please bring a typed copy of your branding sentence. It is not required that you take The Branding Workshop before you take this session.

By taking the time to narrow down what an actor really wants to focus on it can free them up to deepen their pursuit of job opportunities. In this session, we will examine the different ways an actor can focus their career goals and discuss how one can create a system by which to effectively target the industry professionals within that area.

She will discuss gear purchases, maximizing your space, tips and tools for optimal sound conditions and helpful resources. SYNOPSIS

An actor was recently overheard saying that he just followed a couple of hundred people and will check back in 24 hours and unfollow anyone that did not follow him back. Unfortunately, this is common. Twitter is a conversation tool and, with any good conversation, the best thing to do first is listen and then engage. This session will cover using Twitter and reference Instagram and general tools and guidelines for dialogue, listening and learning while using social media. If you have never used Twitter or Instagram we encourage you to look up some tutorials online before attending this session.
