Production info: Short horror film.
Synopsis: An impoverished Cajun family struggles while living in the backwoods of Louisiana. The teenage boy tries to stop his mother’s excessive drinking. Throughout her drunken stupors, her violence intensifies, and he discovers she hides a dire secret; one that reveals he may not escape her legacy.
Seeking actors able to portray:
(Local hire only - Southeast Louisiana)
- SELENE [lead] 30s Caucasian female. Selene is worn down by the sole responsibility of caring for two children and a mother who is an invalid. She is traumatized and tortured by a terrible family secret. She seeks escape in alcohol. Cajun is accent a plus.
- THIBAUT [lead] 13 to 18+ to play 13 Caucasian male. Thibaut was forced to grow up quickly due to the loss of his father and economic hardship. He feels responsible for Coraline and tries to protect her from the potentially violent threat of Selene’s alcoholism. Cajun accent is a plus.
- CORALINE [supporting] 7 to 10 (to play 7 years old) Caucasian female. Coraline is a quiet little girl who is more observant than Thibaut or Selene realize. She seeks protection with Thibaut and emotional security from her teddy bear.
- MAWMAW [supporting] 40s to 50s Caucasian female. Life has taken its toll on this frail woman and it shows on her face. She is Selene’s mother, confined to her bed. She is obsessed with protecting Thibaut and Coraline from their mother’s dark side. She finds strength in her love for the children. Cajun accent is a plus.
- AUNT JEANNE [featured] 40s Caucasian female. Selene’s older sister, victimized too many times by her. She seeks to distance herself from Selene.
