HB 874 Relating to Child Performers: Please consider signing.
and
HB 976 Relating to Tax Credits: Please consider vetoing.

HB 874 will provide:
- A layer of protection for the child performer’s financial wellbeing by:
- Requiring a parent or legal guardian of a minor in theatrical employment to establish a trust account for the minor when the minor’s gross income is at least $5,000 on a project or $20,000 in a calendar year, and
- Requiring the employer of a minor in theatrical employment to deposit a portion of the minor's earnings into the trust account until the child becomes an adult
- Requiring a parent or legal guardian of a minor in theatrical employment to establish a trust account for the minor when the minor’s gross income is at least $5,000 on a project or $20,000 in a calendar year, and
- Protections for minors who are social media influencers, by including them under the laws that protect minors in theatrical employment
We support this bill and urge the Governor to sign it.
HB 976 will require:
- That income tax credits existing on 12/31/2025 or established or renewed after 12/31/2025 include a 5-year sunset, or
- An annual one-third reduction, beginning with the 6th year of the credit.
These requirements apply to our Film and Digital Media Tax Incentive. We strongly OPPOSE this bill and urge the Governor to veto it.
It is imperative that our voices be heard. Please contact the Governor’s Office and urge him to sign HB 874 and veto HB 796.
