The following is being sent to you on behalf of Middle Tennessee State University.

Casting and Directing for the Screen course is seeking SAG-AFTRA actors to appear in two short, filmed scenes this semester. The course is under the direction of Professor Paul Chilsen in the Media Arts Department at MTSU. 

Contract: Micro Budget Agreement. No pay. Copy and credit provided 

Producer: Jackson Stone

Work Dates: Scenes or projects will shoot on a Monday or Wednesday in early/mid-November

Production Location: MTSU Campus, Murfreesboro, TN 37132 

Project 1: The Bench: A conversation between two strangers that explores the nuances of good and evil. 

Seeking actors able to portray: 

  • Homeless Man: 30s-60s. Any gender. Any ethnicity. A ragged man who relishes the misfortune of others. Purposefully dressing below his status to deceive others, he presents himself as jovial, even accessible, but in truth, he is cunning, calculating, and manipulative. He believes he is above all others. 
  • Man in White: 30s-60s. Any gender. Any ethnicity. A well groomed, well-dressed person who enjoys the peaceful ways of the world. An incurable optimist, he is cautious around the homeless man but hopeful that he can reach him. He is respectful even in the face of hate and views himself as equal to even the lowest of life forms. 

Project 2: La La Land: In this reimagined scene from the film La La Land, a couple has a difficult conversation about their future. 

Seeking actors able to portray: 

  • Mia: Lead. 20s-40s. Any Gender. Any Ethnicity. An aspiring actor who feels things deeply. A stubborn but encouraging person who pushes people to reach for their dreams and never wants anyone to settle, including themself. In a relationship with Sebastian.
  • Sebastian: Lead. 20s-40s. Any Gender. Any Ethnicity. A touring musician whose dream is to open a jazz club. A charming person who’s realistic about their life but struggles with deciding what direction to take their future. In a relationship with Mia. 

Submission/ Audition Instruction: Auditions will be held in-person on Wednesday, October 16 from 4-7:30 p.m. in Room 104 of the Bragg Media and Entertainment Building in Murfreesboro, TN. Actors must be local to Murfreesboro, TN.
