Join the SAG-AFTRA Conservatory today!

The SAG-AFTRA Los Angeles Conservatory offers a low-cost opportunity for members to hone and develop their craft through classes, workshops, lectures and symposia — all on the campus of AFI. 

The SAG-AFTRA Los Angeles ConservatoryThe Benefits: The workshops teach SAG-AFTRA members how to attain essential tools for their  careers in a supportive, nurturing environment. In addition, Conservatory members are eligible  to be cast in AFI student films, allowing you to gain vital on-camera experience.

The Workshops: Structured workshops are offered from October through May and include on-camera commercial and theatrical techniques, commercial and theatrical cold-reading techniques, voice-overs, improvisation and "Actors Evenings" with opportunities to meet casting directors, agents and other industry professionals in a seminar format.

Participation in the Conservatory is limited to SAG-AFTRA members in good standing. A small administrative fee of only $35 is required for membership.


Enrollment for the 2015/2016 Los Angeles Conservatory Season is NOW CLOSED. 
Membership in the Los Angeles Conservatory is annual and our season runs from August through July, to coincide with the AFI academic year.

Once you have enrolled in the Conservatory, register for the Conservatory casting database.
The SAG-AFTRA Los Angeles Conservatory database for casting is now online! That means no need to spend money printing and sending headshots, no need to cut those resumes down to the right size and no more time standing in line at the post office. If you wish to be submitted for American Film Institute projects, you MUST create a free account with iActor.

Headshots and resumes will no longer be accepted in the office.

Conservatory Committee: The Conservatory Committee works on both national and local levels to encourage supervise and create programs through the Conservatory, which benefit SAG-AFTRA members.
