The SAG-AFTRA Los Angeles Conservatory offers a low-cost opportunity for amembers to hone and develop their craft through classes, workshops, lectures and symposia — all on the campus of AFI.
The Benefits: The workshops teach SAG-AFTRA members how to attain essential tools for their careers in a supportive, nurturing environment. In addition, Conservatory members are eligible to be cast in AFI student films, allowing you to gain vital on-camera experience.
The Workshops: Structured workshops are offered from October through May and include on-camera commercial and theatrical techniques, commercial and theatrical cold-reading techniques, voice-overs, improvisation and "Actors Evenings" with opportunities to meet casting directors, agents and other industry professionals in a seminar format.
Participation in the Conservatory is limited to SAG-AFTRA members in good standing. A small administrative fee of only $35 is required for membership.

Membership in the Los Angeles Conservatory is annual and our season runs from August through July to coincide with the AFI academic year.

The LA Conservatory has opened enrollment for a short time only, so don’t delay! There are just a few spots left to join us mid-season. Your membership begins at the time your application is processed and concludes at the end of the summer 2015.

Conservatory Committee: The Conservatory Committee works on both national and local levels to encourage supervise and create programs through the Conservatory, which benefit SAG-AFTRA members.
