The Conservatory is designed to expand the craft and business knowledge of the professional performer through participation in Classes, Audio/Video Workshops, Friday Groups, and Special Events. NY Conservatory classes take place at the SAG-AFTRA New York Conservatory Studio at the SAG-AFTRA office located at 1900 Broadway, 5th floor.
Although run under the auspices of SAG-AFTRA, SAG-AFTRA membership dues are not used to pay for Conservatory activity, although we gratefully acknowledge the use of the space provided by the union. Fellow actors (just like you) volunteer their time to run this fine program. Your nominal Conservatory membership fee goes to pay for such things as studio equipment, printing and mailing expenses.
Annual Membership runs Sept. 8 through Aug. 1 regardless of when you join. You must be a paid-up member of SAG-AFTRA. NY Conservatory Membership Applications can be mailed to or dropped off at the 12th floor NY Committees Office located at SAG-AFTRA, 1900 Broadway, 5th Floor. Renewal applications are processed in the same way as new applications.
Please PRINT clearly and COMPLETELY fill out your application including your professional email address, and make your check/money order payable to "SAG-AFTRA" in the amount of $35 (cash is not accepted.) Your card will be mailed to you within 4 to 6 weeks. Your check will be marked with your card number for your records. If you write a check to pay for another member, please note that member's name on your check. A $10 fee is charged for any returned check and you will not be permitted to participate in Conservatory functions or rejoin until that fee is paid. There is a $5 fee for card replacement.
