Hey, Nashville Singers and Recording Artists! 2019 was a huge year for the music industry and our local in particular. 2020 promises to be even bigger! So what better way to kick off the new year than to get an inside look at where the industry is going with Dan Navarro, Grammy-nominated songwriter, singer, recording artist and SAG-AFTRA Vice President Recording Artists/Singers?  
 
For years, Navarro has been a powerful advocate for our union and the rights of singers and songwriters through organizations like Nashville Songwriters Association International, Music First Coalition, SoundExchange and others. He is also a trustee of the AFM & SAG-AFTRA Intellectual Property Rights Distribution Fund.  (Full bio here)  
 
On January 14, Navarro's coming to the Nashville Local office to answer your questions about working under a union contract, how to find if you have royalties due you, upcoming federal legislation, the landscape for singer-songwriters in the new decade and whatever else is on your mind.

The SAG-AFTRA NextGen Performers Committee presents our next monthly Game Night at the Kaufherr Center!

For the month of January, it's going to get cozy! Hot chocolate and smores included. Or as the cool kids say: ho'cho and s'mos. Wear your jammies and bring your blankets, and don't forget your favorite board games. Friends are welcome to join our members, so bring your plus ones or twos. It'll be an evening of fun and community at the Kaufherr Center. Feel free to bring snacks of your own to share. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.

NextGen Performers is a new Chicago Local committee devoted to helping the next generation of SAG-AFTRA performers develop their careers, utilize the amazing resources of SAG-AFTRA and connect with other union members.

Please join us for an afternoon of conversation and cheer. Local Staff, board members and committee chairs will be on-hand to share information about getting involved in the local, including volunteering for committee service, participating in caucuses/W&W meetings, and planning local events. There are a variety of ways in which a member can serve the union. Festive drinks and desserts will be served! This is a great chance to meet and mingle with other local members and to consider union service in the new year.

Parking: There is metered parking and various garages in the area. Public transportation is available and encouraged.

NextGen Performers Holiday Party

 

The Hawaii Local NextGen Performers Committee is hosting an “Ugly Sweater Party” to benefit Toys for Tots Hawaii and the Hawaii Food Bank.  Please join us at Bethel Union wearing your “ugly” Holiday sweater if you are so inclined, and bring a new unwrapped toy for a child in need or nonperishable food items (the Hawaii Food Bank could use rice and canned meats).  Pizza and chicken wings will be provided and there is a fabulous bar at for members and their guests to purchase beverages.
