Re: Agency Commission Obligations
The National Office has been asked to clarify some apparent confusion which has arisen in the Georgia market regarding agency contracts and what is commissionable in your area. For the time being, all Legacy SAG (“L-SAG”) franchised agents must use L-SAG agency contracts to represent you for L-SAG-covered work. All Legacy AFTRA (“L-AFTRA”) franchised agents must use L-AFTRA agency contracts to represent you for L-AFTRA work.
For your convenience, the L-SAG* and L-AFTRA Commission charts are located here on the SAG-AFTRA website:
*Please note, if your agency is affiliated with the ATA (The Association of Talent Agents), you may be asked to sign a ‘general services agreement’ (a/k/a/ “GSA”) for some work opportunities which may nonetheless fall within the Union’s jurisdiction. We are happy to help you to understand this contract, if your rights and obligations thereunder are confusing to you. Just give us a call. Please be aware, however, that a GSA cannot be used to create a written relationship between your agent and you for L-AFTRA-covered work, and cannot be relied upon to create commission obligations L-AFTRA covered work.
Should you have any questions about what is commissionable for L-AFTRA or L-SAG- covered work by your Georgia agent, please do not hesitate to call the National Office at 323-549-6729, or the New York Local at 212-863-4305 or the Georgia Local Office at 404-239-0131.
