SAG-AFTRA New York Young Performers Committee Workshop
Minor Adjustments; Managing Career and Educational Transitions

When: 10 a.m.-3 p.m., Saturday, Nov.16, 2019
Doors open at 9:30 a.m.

Young Performers must navigate a number of unique transitions only faced by minors who work as professional performers. They need to move between on-set education and school instruction. They have to navigate the professional changes and challenges that come when they reach the age of majority. And unlike their peers who will chose a career path after they turn 18, young performers must chose to either continue in their current profession or travel a new road ahead. Join the NY Young Performers Committee for a mentoring workshop about the many choices and techniques for managing the transitions of young performer-hood.

The morning will feature a panel discussion with former young performers who have moved on to a variety of successful careers on and off set. Join us as we welcome former Screen Actors Guild President Melissa Gilbert (Little House on the Prairie), and Josh Saviano (The Wonder Years) for an in-depth discussion about their career paths.

The afternoon will include breakout sessions for young performers for small group discussions about the various transitions plus an improv class.

Parents will attend a panel discussion in the afternoon with practical information about helping young performers transition between school and on-set education.

Breakfast and lunch will be served.

RSVP: Reservations are required and space is limited. Please complete the form below - you must be logged in to access the form. Due to space limitations we can only accommodate one parent or guardian per young performer.
