Make sure to bring your thoughts and questions, your insight into living and working in the area, and most of all bring yourselves. Members identifying themselves as recording artists are encouraged to attend!

The SAG-AFTRA San Francisco-Northern California spring 2018 membership meeting was held April 16 at the Delancey Street Restaurant in San Francisco. As part of the pre-meeting events, Local President Kathryn Howell and Local Executive Director Sean Taylor headed up a brief orientation for new members and an eligible performer mixer, giving pre-members the opportunity to interact with SAG-AFTRA members and learn about the benefits of union membership.

Students, news professionals and faculty came together at California State University, Fresno on April 28 for a daylong conference on how to navigate a career in broadcasting. Three panels were presented, Behind the Scenes, The Business of the News Business and Getting Your First Job. Panelists talked about how they broke into the field of broadcasting and explained what it takes to be successful in the broadcast industry.

Please save the date for our training and discussion on harassment in the workplace and ensuring a safe workplace. We will have guests from the SAG-AFTRA New York office to present on this topic and lead the discussion with the San Francisco-Northern California Local staff team. The training will be followed by a Cinco De Mayo themed lunch at the office.

This intensive class will cover a unisex adaption of Reginald Rose’s play Twelve Angry Men. It’s designed to enhance verbal skills, strengthen focus, patience and team reading. Feedback is provided at the end of the session. Complete scripts are provided and MUST be returned at class end.

Introduction Into The Meisner Technique with Jim Jarrett 

Jim Jarrett will be presenting a three-hour workshop in which you will experience and understand the value of The Meisner Technique. Probe into why Sanford Meisner created the technique and how it has evolved. This will be a very interactive workshop.

On Jan. 21, members of the San Francisco-Northern California Local and their guests gathered at the Delancey Street Foundation in San Francisco to celebrate the 24th annual SAG Awards, which honors the best performances in film and television. This is the third consecutive year the local has held the SAG Awards viewing party at Delancey Street, and the shindig was highlighted by a red carpet photo opportunity area, catered appetizers and giveaways.
