SAG New Media Hosts SAG Mini-Summit at Digital Hollywood Content Summit Spring

Continuing their involvement with the Digital Hollywood Content Summit, SAG New Media increased their presence this year by hosting the SAG Mini-Summit, May 3, at the Ritz-Carlton, Marina Del Rey.
Since its debut in 1990, Digital Hollywood has become one of the premiere entertainment and technology conferences in the country, attracting executives from around the world.
The SAG Mini-Summit consisted of two new media-focused panels. First up at the mini-summit was The Actor in the New Entertainment Economy - The New Working Partnerships Actor-Writer-Director, featuring Ruth Livier (YLSE), Karen Murphy (Waiting for Guffman), Nate Golon (Workshop) and Jeanne Wolfe (Jeanne Wolfe’s Hollywood) as moderator. Panelists discussed what it takes to be a successful actor in the current entertainment economy and how they’ve utilized new media to reach their goals.

The mini-summit ended the day poolside with the panel Actors, Social Media and Celebrity — Communications and Commerce. Moderator Kristyn Burtt (The Web.Files) discussed how actors are able take control of their own careers by utilizing social media to build their own celebrity brand. Panelists included Jessica Mills (Awkward Embraces), Stephanie Thorpe (Gold: Night of the Zombie King, ElfQuest), Paula Rhodes (Hollywood Wastland, ElfQuest) and Matthew Arevalo (Asylum, Founder, Master Works).
With increased attention being paid to new media by technology and traditional media organizations alike, Digital Hollywood’s Content Summit is becoming increasingly relevant and important to new media professionals. SAG New Media is proud to be involved and looks forward to continuing its participation going forward.
