Meeting held in Hollywood - and via simultaneous video conference in New York and Miami

All SAG members who work the Television Contract are invited to an important caucus October 24 to join a national discussion on the Internet distribution of TV series.

Please attend, especially if you have worked on shows produced in the 1950s (such as Maverick) , 60s (such as Bewitched), 70s (such as The Brady Bunch), 80s (such as Hill Street Blues), 90s (such as Lois and Clark) and even current series (such as CSI).

Los Angeles (October 3, 2006)---Screen Actors Guild, as well as several other entertainment industry guilds and organizations, including the Directors Guild of America (DGA), the Writers Guild of America, west (WGAw), the American Federation of Television & Radio Artists (AFTRA), the Producers Guild of America (PGA), the Caucus of Television Producers, Writers & Directors, and the Recording Artists' Coalition (RAC) testified today at a public hearing before the FCC. the hearing was held at the University of Southern California (USC)'s Davidson Conference Center in Los Angeles.

Los Angeles (September 26, 2006)–In national voting completed today, members of Screen Actors Guild (SAG) and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (AFTRA) overwhelmingly approved a two-year extension to the Commercials Contracts with the advertising industry covering advertisements on TV, radio, the Internet, and New Media.

Los Angeles (September 21, 2006) –Screen Actors Guild (SAG) today announced election results for the Guild’s national board of directors. Twenty-four of the 69 national board seats were contested in this election, representing Screen Actors Guild’s Hollywood, New York and Regional Branch Divisions.

The newly elected national board members will assume office on September 25 for terms of varying lengths. The next national board meeting is October 21-22 in Los Angeles.

Los Angeles (September 20, 2006) -- Screen Actors Guild today announced the promotions of Laura Beedy Ritchie and William Bensussen to deputy general counsel. Bensussen will focus on the Guild's collective bargaining and contract enforcement initiatives, while Ritchie will focus on issues of legal strategy and policy. Both attorneys previously served as assistant general counsel for the Guild and, along with New York-based Deputy General Counsel Ray Rodriguez, will continue to report directly to General Counsel Duncan Crabtree-Ireland. The promotions are effective immediately.

Los Angeles (September 6, 2006) --- Screen Actors Guild announced today the promotion of two veteran executives to key senior staff positions. Duncan Crabtree-Ireland has assumed the role of general counsel, while Todd Amorde has been named to the newly created position of national director of organizing. Both promotions are effective immediately.

Los Angeles (September 5, 2006) --- The Joint Board of Screen Actors Guild (SAG) and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (AFTRA) overwhelmingly approved a two-year extension to the Commercials Contracts with the advertising industry. Beginning today, ballots are being mailed to all SAG and AFTRA eligible voters. Filled-out ballots must be returned via mail and must be received at the assigned post office box in Everett, WA no later than 5 p.m. (PST) Tuesday, September 26, 2006.

Both Union Memberships now set to vote on two-year deal that bumps rates 6%, commissions study on compensation, and extends jurisdiction into new media

LOS ANGELES and NEW YORK (August 26, 2006) –-- Meeting as a Joint Board, directors of Screen Actors Guild and American Federation of Television and Radio Artists today overwhelmingly approved a two-year extension to the commercials contracts with the advertising industry by an almost 95-percent margin.

Thank you all for coming today. I am proud to be here, standing in solidarity for these amazing workers who are not afraid to fight to be represented by a union. In these anti-union times, this group of hard-working janitors decided they have had enough!

Enough of long days without meal breaks…enough exposure to toxic chemicals…enough of being denied overtime…and enough of making poverty-level wages. SEIU is here for them, and so are we.

Los Angeles (August 14, 2006)—Screen Actors Guild, Actors’ Equity Association, American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (AFTRA), American Guild of Musical Artists and American Guild of Variety Artists are advised that AFTRA does NOT have a contract with any programs made for the soon-to-be-launched Retirement Living network. The working titles of the shows currently in development are Amazing Seniors, The Doctor’s Hour, The Voice and Living Well.

Los Angeles (August 4, 2006)—Screen Actors Guild (SAG) today released the official list of candidates for its upcoming national board elections. Ballots for all eligible SAG members in Hollywood and New York will be mailed on August 22. The ballots will be tabulated on September 21, and the election results are expected to be announced that evening. Approximately 1/3 of the total 69 national board seats are open for election this year.

Los Angeles (July 21, 2006)--Screen Actors Guild (SAG) President Alan Rosenberg today stood in solidarity with striking writers from America’s Next Top Model, who are seeking union recognition for their work. Supported by the Writers Guild of America, West (WGAw), the group made a formal demand for union recognition to the producer of the CW’s television program on July 12. But a deadline to bargain passed July 19. SAG 1st National Vice President Anne-Marie Johnson also represented the Guild.
