LOS ANGELES (Nov. 17, 2016) –  Approximately 450 members and leaders of SAG-AFTRA, together with members of Unite Here, AFM, WGA West and IATSE, picketed Insomniac Games, Inc. in Burbank on Thursday. It was the union’s third picket since it began striking 11 video game corporations Oct. 21. SAG-AFTRA’s pickets of WB Games, Inc. and Voiceworks Productions, Inc. on Nov. 3 and EA on Oct. 24 drew some 700 combined.

CHICAGO (November 7, 2016) -- SAG-AFTRA on Monday filed two unfair labor practice charges with the National Labor Relations Board on behalf of member broadcasters at WEEK and WHOI. Both news stations are operated out of the same location in East Peoria, Ill. and are owned by Quincy Media, Inc. Together with one previously filed charge, there are now three unfair labor practice charges outstanding against the company.

LOS ANGELES (November 3, 2016) — SAG-AFTRA members Thursday picketed two of the video game corporations that continue to refuse to compromise on critical issues.

Approximately 400 SAG-AFTRA and allied union members from AFM, WGAW, IATSE and the Animation Guild Local 839 picketed WB Games, Inc. and Voiceworks Productions, Inc. in Burbank, Calif. as the interactive video game strike continued into a second week.

LOS ANGELES (October 28, 2016) -- Attorneys for SAG-AFTRA today issued a demand to the public relations representative and negotiations attorney for the 11 video game corporations the union is striking. The demand directs the PR rep to immediately cease infringing the union’s trademark and desist in its promotion of a deceptive website that masquerades as a SAG-AFTRA communications platform.

CHICAGO (Sept. 1, 2016) — The employees at the Better Government Association in Chicago today voted unanimously to join SAG-AFTRA.  

The successful vote means the staff will join more than 160,000 media professionals in the union, paving the way for BGA employees to negotiate a first contract.

LOS ANGELES (August 26, 2016) -- Comic character actor and writer Marvin Kaplan died Thursday at the age of 89. Kaplan, a former member of the national boards of both Screen Actors Guild and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, served four terms as president of AFTRA’s Los Angeles Local from 1989–95 and 2003–05, and on the SAG board from 1975–84, including a two-year term as 9th vice president.

LOS ANGELES (August 26, 2016) — In its ongoing effort to organize Spanish-language television, SAG-AFTRA sent another message to Telemundo Thursday night by airing a 30-second commercial highlighting the double standard that exists between English-language and Spanish-language talent at the network’s parent company, NBCUniversal.

While Telemundo and Comcast refused to air the Spanish-language spot during the network’s live broadcast of Premios Tu Mundo, other Spanish-language stations in Miami, New York and Los Angeles ran the ad.
