Los Angeles (Nov. 8, 2007) -- Everybody Love Raymond’s Ray Romano, Patricia Heaton, and WGA member/show creator Phil Rosenthal will join writers on the WGA picket line at Paramount Studios today at 10 a.m.

The Rev. Jesse Jackson will make a statement in support of striking WGA writers today at 11 a.m. at Paramount Studios (Windsor Gate). Joining Rev. Jackson will be WGAW President Patric M. Verrone and fellow Writers Guild members.

Screen Actors Guild will have a staff presence at every WGA picket line to ensure that SAG members’ questions are answered.

REMINDER:
If you are contracted to work on a television series or motion picture that continues to produce while the WGA is on strike, you are obligated by your personal service agreement and the “No Strike” clause in our collective bargaining agreements, to go to work.

The Writers Guild of America West (WGAW) board and Writers Guild of America East (WGAE) council voted today to call a strike against the film studios and television networks that make up the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) on Monday, November 5.

NEWEST CASTING DATA SHOWS HIGHEST ETHNIC MINORITY REPRESENTATION ON RECORD Los Angeles (October 29, 2007)—Following a fifteen year trend, non-Caucasian performers made incremental gains over the past two years, although mostly represented in supporting roles, according to the latest casting data collected and analyzed by Screen Actors Guild (SAG) in 2005 and 2006. Hollywood, CA (October 25, 2007)—Screen Actors Guild today was honored with an Award of Excellence star on Hollywood Boulevard—making it the first union ever to receive this honor. The ceremony, which took place in front of the historic Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, served as the official kick-off event for the Guild’s year-long 75th anniversary celebration. The star is located at 7018 Hollywood Boulevard.

New York (October 4, 2007)—Screen Actors Guild member Joan Warren died September 26 after a long illness. Warren was a Screen Actors Guild National Board member and New York Board member from 1978-1984. She went on to serve on the Board of Trustees for the Screen Actors Guild-Producers Pension and Health Plan from October 1982 until her death. As a trustee she was especially active on the Finance Committee of the Plans, including a period as its chairperson.

On September 4, 2007, Screen Actors Guild joined film industry unions, small businesses and the Film & Television Action Committee (FTAC) to file a petition under Section 301(a) of the Trade Act of 1974 with the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative. The petition argues that Canadian film subsidies violate trade law, and that American entertainment industry workers have been significantly harmed by incentives designed to lure media production from the United States to Canada.

Guild Also Announces Results of National Board Elections

Los Angeles (September 20, 2007)—Screen Actors Guild today announced results of elections for its top two elected positions. Alan Rosenberg will serve a second term as Screen Actors Guild President and Connie Stevens, who ran unopposed, will continue as secretary-treasurer. Both will serve two year terms beginning September 25.
