The Rev. Jesse Jackson will make a statement in support of striking WGA writers today at 11 a.m. at Paramount Studios (Windsor Gate). Joining Rev. Jackson will be WGAW President Patric M. Verrone and fellow Writers Guild members.

If you are contracted to work on a television series or motion picture that continues to produce while the WGA is on strike, you are obligated by your personal service agreement and the “No Strike” clause in our collective bargaining agreements, to go to work.

The Writers Guild of America West (WGAW) board and Writers Guild of America East (WGAE) council voted today to call a strike against the film studios and television networks that make up the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) on Monday, November 5.

The ceremony, which took place in front of the historic Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, served as the official kick-off event for the Guild’s year-long 75th anniversary celebration. The star is located at 7018 Hollywood Boulevard.

She went on to serve on the Board of Trustees for the Screen Actors Guild-Producers Pension and Health Plan from October 1982 until her death. On September 4, 2007, Screen Actors Guild joined film industry unions, small businesses and the Film & Television Action Committee (FTAC) to file a petition under Section 301(a) of the Trade Act of 1974 with the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative. The petition argues that Canadian film subsidies violate trade law, and that American entertainment industry workers have been significantly harmed by incentives designed to lure media production from the United States to Canada.
