SAN FRANCISCO (March 11, 2015) --- Today, staff at KGO-AM and KSFO-AM in San Francisco voted unanimously to join tens of thousands of media and entertainment professionals by choosing SAG-AFTRA as their union. The new bargaining unit will cover producers, board operators, web producers and more, for news and talk stations KGO 810 and KSFO 560. The election was conducted at the station on March 11, and the vote was 20 to 0.

Los Angeles (Feb. 12, 2015) – SAG-AFTRA mourns the tragic loss of SAG-AFTRA member and 60 Minutes correspondent Bob Simon. He was 73. 

Simon was best known for his more than four decades as a CBS News reporter, as well as his work as a 60 Minutes correspondent since 1996. His fearless work covering major overseas conflicts since the 1960s earned him respect and many awards, including four Peabody awards, 25 Emmy awards and Overseas Press Club’s highest honor, the President’s Award.

Los Angeles (Feb. 6, 2015) – On Sunday, Feb. 8, the SAG-AFTRA Los Angeles Local will recognize actor, filmmaker and moderator Timothy Blake with its 2015 Ralph Morgan Award, the local’s highest honor for a member. LOS ANGELES and NEW YORK (Jan. 10, 2015) — The SAG-AFTRA National Board met in a scheduled one-day video plenary today in Los Angeles and New York.

The national board unanimously approved the commencement of the Wages and Working (W&W) Conditions process for the Corporate/Educational & Non-Broadcast Contracts. SAG-AFTRA Executive Vice President Gabrielle Carteris was named National Chair. The committee oversees the W&W process and develops with member input a recommended set of proposals. The current contracts will expire April 30, 2015.

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 3 — SAG-AFTRA and the Networks, along with the signatory Producers of the AFTRA Network Television Code,today commenced negotiations on a successor agreement to the AFTRA National Code of Fair Practice for Network Television Broadcasting. The parties announced a news blackout for the duration of the talks and will have no further comment.

SAG-AFTRA President Ken Howard is chair and National Executive Director David White is chief negotiator for the union.

SAG-AFTRA celebrates the life of member Marcia Strassman, who died on Friday at the age of 66. Strassman, best known for her role as Julie Kotter on the 1970s ABC comedy Welcome Back Kotter, served on the SAG National Board in 2002 and again from 2010-12. She also served on the AFTRA National Board from 2011-12, and then on the SAG-AFTRA National Board from 2012-13.
