Screen Actors Guild Announces “Solidarity Campaign”
First 31 “Solidarity Signers” add names to list of members in support of a “yes” vote on the strike authorization referendum.
Among the names are several prominent Academy Award™ nominees and recipients.
LOS ANGELES, DECEMBER 10, 2008 -- Screen Actors Guild today announced that strike authorization ballots will be mailed to paid-up SAG members on Friday January 2, 2009, and will be tabulated on Friday, January 23. A yes vote by 75% of members voting is required to pass the measure, which would authorize SAG's national board of directors to call a strike, if and when the board determines it is necessary.

We know many of you plan to attend the informational Hollywood Division Town Hall Meeting at Harmony Gold Theater on December 8, 2008 at 7 p.m. While we tried to secure a larger venue, seasonal parties, award consideration screenings, and our policy to use only union facilities, limited our options.
We will admit the first 450 members who have paid up SAG membership cards to the town hall. We are currently looking for an appropriate venue so that we can hold another town hall for Hollywood Division members very soon.
Screen Actors Guild Announces the Howard Keel Award Selectees
Los Angeles, CA (November 10, 2008) - The Regional Branch Division (RBD) of Screen Actors Guild (SAG) established the Howard Keel Award to honor RBD members who have made significant contributions to the welfare and benefit of professional actors in their Branch and reaffirmed the status of the SAG RBD as part of a national union.
Los Angeles, CA (October 31, 2008) – The Screen Actors Guild National Negotiating Committee will meet with the mediator assigned by the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service on November 5.
Los Angeles, (October 28, 2008) - Screen Actors Guild National LGBT and Hollywood Legislative committees voted to oppose California ballot Proposition 8. Committee members took the action supporting the constitutional rights of same-sex couples to wed in the state of California as part of the Guild’s ongoing anti-discrimination efforts.
Los Angeles, (October 24, 2008) -- Screen Actors Guild President Alan Rosenberg, National Executive Director and Chief Negotiator Doug Allen and Deputy National Executive Director for Contracts Ray Rodriguez met with Juan Carlos Gonzalez this afternoon at SAG headquarters in Los Angeles to discuss Screen Actors Guild’s request for mediation and the possibilities regarding the resumption of negotiations. It is our understanding that Mr. Gonzalez is going to meet with AMPTP representatives next Thursday.
Los Angeles (October 20, 2008)—The Screen Actors Guild National Board of Directors meeting in Los Angeles Saturday, October 18, approved a proposed agreement outlining conditions to permit joint bargaining with AFTRA for the Commercials Contracts under the terms of the Phase 1 agreement.
Los Angeles (October 19, 2008) – The Screen Actors Guild National Board of Directors today passed the following resolution at its quarterly plenary in Los Angeles:

At meetings held on October 6, the Hollywood Division Board elected Anne-Marie Johnson as 1st national vice-president; and the New York Division Board re-elected New York Division President Sam Freed, as 2nd national vice president.
