Hollywood, CA (October 25, 2007)—Screen Actors Guild today was honored with an Award of Excellence star on Hollywood Boulevard—making it the first union ever to receive this honor. The ceremony, which took place in front of the historic Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, served as the official kick-off event for the Guild’s year-long 75th anniversary celebration. The star is located at 7018 Hollywood Boulevard.

New York (October 4, 2007)—Screen Actors Guild member Joan Warren died September 26 after a long illness. Warren was a Screen Actors Guild National Board member and New York Board member from 1978-1984. She went on to serve on the Board of Trustees for the Screen Actors Guild-Producers Pension and Health Plan from October 1982 until her death. As a trustee she was especially active on the Finance Committee of the Plans, including a period as its chairperson.

On September 4, 2007, Screen Actors Guild joined film industry unions, small businesses and the Film & Television Action Committee (FTAC) to file a petition under Section 301(a) of the Trade Act of 1974 with the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative. The petition argues that Canadian film subsidies violate trade law, and that American entertainment industry workers have been significantly harmed by incentives designed to lure media production from the United States to Canada.

Guild Also Announces Results of National Board Elections

Los Angeles (September 20, 2007)—Screen Actors Guild today announced results of elections for its top two elected positions. Alan Rosenberg will serve a second term as Screen Actors Guild President and Connie Stevens, who ran unopposed, will continue as secretary-treasurer. Both will serve two year terms beginning September 25.

Los Angeles (August 21, 2007)—Screen Actors Guild announced today it has mailed out national election ballots to its members. All ballots must be returned to the assigned post office box by 6:30 a.m. (PDT) September 20. Elections results are expected to be announced that evening.

Members who do not receive a ballot or wish to request a replacement ballot may call Screen Actors Guild’s Membership Department at (323) 549-6787.

The Equal Ethnic Opportunities committees of Screen Actors Guild, the Actors Equity Association and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists jointly selected the Tony and Emmy award-winning actor for his work both on and off screen.Read More
