Details: Operation USO Care Package parties are high-energy events. Hundreds of volunteers line both sides of long tables to form their own “assembly line” as they load items such as sunscreen, packaged body wipes, granola snacks, playing cards, prepaid international phone cards, disposable razors and chewing gum into two-gallon plastic bags. Upbeat music blares from loudspeakers, and periodic public address announcements herald the latest package milestone.
Last year, the Operation USO Care Package event at Northrop Grumman assembled 16,200 packages in just over six hours—a USO single-day record at the time.
During a brief ceremony at Noon, the Los Angeles Airport USO will receive a check for more than $46,000 raised by Northrop Grumman’s USO employee fundraising campaign. A $5,000 check will be presented by Northrop Grumman’s Employees Charity Organization (ECHO).
