What you should know about VITA

VITA is a two-hour self-help program. In workshop sessions, members complete their own tax forms assisted by trained volunteers.

Before scheduling an appointment to attend VITA, you need to pick up a VITA Packet. Complete the forms before coming to the appointment. The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program is offered to qualified members of:

LOS ANGELES (February 20, 2004) – A joint national board of the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (AFTRA) today strongly endorsed an agreement reached earlier this week with producers for a one-year extension of the current TV/Theatrical contract set to expire on June 30. By a vote of 79 percent to 21 percent, the joint board approved sending the extension agreement to the full memberships of both unions for ratification, expected during the next 30 days.

LOS ANGELES (February 18, 2004) – Screen Actors Guild (SAG) and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (AFTRA) have reached agreement with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) to extend for one year the current TV/Theatrical contract set to expire on June 30, pending ratification of the deal. The extended deal – which will be considered by the joint SAG-AFTRA National Board this week and is expected to go before the SAG and AFTRA full memberships within the next 30 days – would be effective July 1, 2004 and conclude on June 30, 2005.

The Comedy Central animated TV series South Park is engaged in re-casting. SAG members are instructed—in accordance with previous National Board directives—not to audition or accept employment on this series.

South Park is not covered by any SAG agreement, and its producers are not providing SAG wages, benefits and conditions of employment. Please do not accept any employment or renew any contract unless you have confirmed with SAG that the show’s status has changed.

Standing alongside union brothers and sisters, SAG members marched from the Great Western Forum to a Von's supermarket Saturday in Inglewood. With 14,000 boisterous people in attendance, the event was the largest display of solidarity since the strike/lockout began 17 weeks ago.

SAG thanks all our members for their continuing support of the 70,000 Southern California grocery workers who face severe health care cuts.

Los Angeles --- Screen Actors Guild Executive Director/CEO A. Robert Pisano announced today the hiring of Peter C. Frank as deputy national executive director for administration and chief financial officer for SAG effective Monday, January 12. He reports directly to Pisano.
