Los Angeles to Increase Production Tax Incentives

Screen Actors Guild was on hand at Los Angeles City Hall on Tuesday to support legislative measures that will make it easier to film in the city of Los Angeles. The ordinance, drafted by City Councilmember Richard Alarcon will adjust the Entertainment Production cap from $2.5 million to $5 million, potentially allowing a number of production companies tax savings of more than $3,000 a year.

SAG Manager of Government Relations and Policy Jennifer Heater spoke in support of the motion saying, "On behalf of the 70,000 members that live and work in California, Screen Actors Guild is strongly in support of this motion. SAG applauds initiatives like Councilmember Alarcon's that create a film-friendly environment and encourages production companies to remain in Los Angeles."

The ordinance will go into effect 30 days after it is signed by the mayor.
