The National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC), in partnership with the AFL-CIO Community Services Network and United Way Worldwide, is seeking donations for the Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive on May 22, 2013. Local food banks are still seeing an unprecedented crisis as requests continue to rise and the NALC food drive offers a simple and convenient way to contribute. The Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive is the largest one-day food drive in the country, and has collected and delivered nearly 1.2 billion pounds of food since 1993.
All members need to do is place a box or can of non-perishable food next to their mailbox before mail delivery on Saturday, May 11, 2013, and the carrier will do the rest. Food will be taken back to a postal station, sorted, and delivered by union volunteers to area food banks for needy families. With the support of Unions across America, the NALC can help those who have lost their jobs and the millions more facing economic uncertainty.
