What are the rules of comedy and how are they different than other genres?  How do you nail timing, find and execute the jokes, and analyze the text to maximize the comedy?  Working on scenes from TV and film comedies, you will gain tools, insight and the practice to win auditions and book work. This workshop will be on camera and you will come away with a digital copy of your work.  You will not only get specific direction that help you bring out your talent, you will also get breakthrough coaching in how to move and transform blocks in performance.

When: 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Saturday, October 12

BIO - MICHAEL D. COHEN Michael is a Gemini (Canadian Emmy) and Canadian Comedy Award nominated actor and acting coach. His credits include Modern Family, 2 Broke Girls, Eagleheart, Austin & Ally, My Name is Earl, among many others. He recently shot the lead role in the feature film It Was You Charlie shot in Toronto by Award winning Take This Waltz DP Luc Montepelier and has also just shot the Jason Reitman produced film Whiplash currently in post-production. Commercial credits include the upcoming Mini Starburst campaign, along with Capital One, FedEx, Boston Market, Hulu Plus with Will Arnett, Honda with Patrick Warburton, and many others.  He is currently a series regular in the new Disney animated series It’s a Small World, as well as numerous others including Grossology and Disney’s Talking Friends. As an acting coach, Michael teaches at the SAG-AFTRA Los Angeles Conservatory. He also teaches private acting workshops through his studio ( ) and coaches actors for auditions around the world. Michael has an M.Ed. in adult education, focusing on transformative education for performers and a science degree in biology.  He is interested in human physiology and personal development as it intersects with performance potential and the mind-body connection in acting. He is passionate about helping actors transform blocks into brilliance. /
