The audiobook industry has grown rapidly in recent years and union jobs are growing along with it. In 2016, audiobook sales topped $1.5 billion. That’s billion – with a B! Many actors have taken note of this fast-growing area of work and are finding out what it takes to perform professional audiobooks work. San Diego members have a special opportunity to learn more at this workshop featuring audiobook pros James Patrick Cronin and Julie McKay.

About James Patrick Cronin and Julie McKay
From demos to emailing casting directors, storytelling style to studio equipment, James Patrick Cronin and Julie McKay will give you a crash course on the do’s and don’ts of the audiobook business. Cronin and McKay have narrated over 500 audiobooks in just over five years. They have worked both together and individually with many of the major publishers and producers in the field, and have also collaborated with numerous independent publishers and authors, including a National Book Award finalist and numerous New York Times and USA Today bestselling authors. Their work spans a wide array of genres, including children’s literature, science fiction, memoir and historical non-fiction. Cronin recently received an Earphones Award for his work on a social sciences text and two Audie nominations for Best Thriller and Best Young Adult of 2016. Last year, they had five titles on Audible’s Best Of 2016 lists.

This workshop is open only to paid-up SAG-AFTRA members in good standing—no guests are allowed. Parents/guardians of performers under 18 years old are welcome.
