In its ongoing effort to provide opportunities to members to interact with and grow the local film industry, the SAG-AFTRA Portland Local is proud to sponsor the 2014 Portland Film Festival, running Aug. 26 through Sept. 1 at various locations in the downtown Portland area.
The Portland Film Festival describes this annual event as “the biggest and most outgoing summer movie smorgasbord in the Northwest. This year, the festival will present over 154 hours of films, workshops, networking opportunities, parties, talks, classes, behind-the-scene tours and more! Plus, lots of free movies and live music in Wallace Park, Waterfront Park and other locations to be announced!”
In addition, SAG-AFTRA staff and members will be conducting a panel discussion focusing on the business side of performance on Saturday, Aug. 30 at 3 p.m., at the 5th Avenue Cinema. That same evening, the Portland Local will also host an actor’s networking event from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Wallace Park.
As a special benefit to SAG-AFTRA members, the festival is offering a discounted “Actors Pass” that entitles the purchaser access to (capacity permitting) any actor's workshop, class, screenwriting panel and networking event at the festival, including the closing night event and film screening (does not include regular screenings). Event tickets and passes will be distributed during the week of Aug. 20.
