AFTRA Foundation

The AFTRA Foundation is building for the future of performers, broadcasters, and recording artists. Founded by the AFTRA National Board of Directors in 1997 as a separate legal entity from the union, the AFTRA Foundation is a charitable and educational organization funded through tax-deductible voluntary contributions, grants, and bequests—not SAG-AFTRA member dues—to support projects outside the scope of normal activities of SAG-AFTRA, including charitable endeavors, special conferences, studies, seminars, and other events.

The SAG Foundation

The SAG Foundation enhances the lives of members by investing in programs that help them in their professional endeavors. Their financial assistance, catastrophic health, educational and literacy programs reflect the concerns and interests of SAG-AFTRA members as well as their desire to "give back" to their communities. The SAG Foundation's Catastrophic Health Fund

This fund provides grants to eligible SAG-AFTRA members and their dependents who suffer from catastrophic illness or injury and are unable to afford the union's Health Plan's Self-Pay Program.  The Fund ensures that every eligible SAG-AFTRA member and his or her family can depend on continued health benefits when they need them most.  We work closely with Pension and Health to ensure that everything that can be done will be done to help our members in times of distress.  For more information please contact:  Lisa Schwartz, Emergency Assistance Administrator 323-549-6773.

You Can Support the AFTRA Foundation

The Foundation has a planned giving program, which allows SAG-AFTRA members to support the Foundation while also furthering your own tax, financial and estate planning goals.

Contributions can be in any amount you choose, in cash or a variety of other assets, immediate or deferred, during your lifetime or posthumously, through trusts, annuities, wills or pooled funds.

SAG-AFTRA members can also:

  • Make tax-deductible contributions to the AFTRA Foundation with dues payments. Just follow the instructions on the semi-annual dues bill you receive in May and November.
  • Donate residual checks that are too small to bother with to the AFTRA Foundation. Your tax-deductible donation of residual checks adds up to help members through the work of the AFTRA Foundation.
