The Motion Picture Players Welfare Fund (MPPWF) s an emergency financial assistance fund of the SAG-AFTRA and serves members in the New York region and all Branches East of Omaha, Nebraska which includes: Boston, Chicago, Detroit, Florida which includes members in Louisiana, North Carolina and Puerto Rico, Georgia, Nashville, Philadelphia and Washington-Baltimore. This program is administered through the Actors Fund of America, (212) 221-7300, Ext. 119.
The MPPWF is designed to assist eligible members who are struggling with a financial, personal or medical crisis. The Foundation's Catastrophic Health Fund provides grants to eligible SAG-AFTRA members and their dependents who suffer from catastrophic illness or injury and are unable to afford the union's Health Plan's Self-Pay Program. The Fund ensures that every eligible SAG-AFTRA member and his or her family can depend on continued health benefits when they need them most. We work closely with Pension and Health to ensure that everything that can be done will be done to help our members in times of distress. The Chad Foundation was founded by longtime SAG-AFTRA member Arista Burtrum in honor of her son Chad, who died suddenly of sudden cardiac death at age 26 while playing football, with no history of heart disease. Donations are accepted to help bring the heart-saving program forward. The Chad Foundation for Athletes and Artists is a non-profit, charitable organization with a 501 c 3 status. All donations are tax deductible.
