The SAG-AFTRA New York Local represents members working in the state of New York (excluding broadcasters working in Buffalo and Rochester), as well as Northern New Jersey and Western Connecticut.
Welcome to the SAG-AFTRA New York Local, home of the most famous urban landscape in the world. New York is such a great location for filming, broadcasting and recording music that other cities have often tried to impersonate us, but there is no substitute for the real thing—nor for the talented, diverse and passionate actors, broadcast professionals and recording artists who make up the SAG-AFTRA New York Local. New York performers are proud of their reputation as “triple-threats,” transitioning easily between film, television, theater and radio. We appear in commercials, corporate/education and student films, and some of us even dance in the ballet and sing at the opera. Our membership offers as much depth and variety as the city we live in. New York is also one of the most production-friendly locations in the country, thanks to the Mayor’s Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting, and the Governor’s Office of Motion Picture and Television Development. New York offers the finest media and entertainment professionals in the foreground and the finest city in the background. We hope you’ll visit us some time as a tourist, or even better, as a working SAG-AFTRA performer.
