SAG-AFTRA Nevada Conservatory
Nailing Your Auditions: Work With a Working Actor
The class will consist of 8 people doing cold readings, which will be distributed at the beginning of the seminar. Mr. Lerner will select a mock casting director reading the performer’s material, flatly opposite them. The class will then discuss the scenes and do a script analysis using substitutions. Mr. Lerner will then discuss hot choices, what is appropriate for the audition and anything else that is relevant to nailing the audition. With a lifetime of film, TV and stage craft to his credit, Mr. Lerner will also include a discussion on the biz of acting and a host of show biz stories intermingled with the lessons. Truly a terrific actor known as one of LA’s premier acting coaches, please do not miss this opportunity.

About Ken Lerner: Ken first began teaching for his mentor, the late Roy London, who gave Ken the honor of being his first student teacher because of Ken’s continual success as a working actor. Since that day 22 years ago, Ken has helped thousands of actors get cast in movies, television shows, pilots and plays.
Ken’s cold reading and scene study classes are exciting places to grow as an actor. Ken’s technique combines the wisdom of the great acting teachers with whom he has studied—London, Stella Adler and Peggy Feury—with his own extensive hands-on experiences in movies, TV shows, plays and commercials. Very few acting teachers continually work as actors, and Ken’s experiences on sets and on stage give him the ability to share inside information with his students. Ken’s positive approach to the work and outstanding ability to break down scripts help him to nurture and bring out the best qualities in his students. Ken works and auditions all the time and imparts his experiences in his own funny, gentle but firm way.
In 2011, Ken was asked to teach a seminar at the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival in Los Angeles. Ken regularly teaches for the SAG-AFTRA Conservatory and has taught seminars for the SAG Foundation and ActorFest. He has taught seminars in Cold Reading for the prestigious Theater Department at Muhlenberg College.
Ken has continued to work in TV, movies and commercials for the last 36 years, making his a recognizable face everywhere he goes. He has appeared in more than 100 top television shows, including The Mentalist, Burn Notice, NCIS, Cougar Town, CSI: Miami, In Plain Sight, Two and a Half Men, Desperate Housewives, Castle, Scrubs, Weeds, CSI, Without a Trace and Buffy The Vampire Slayer.
Ken’s more than 40 film roles include Unlawful Entry, The Doctor, The Fabulous Baker Boys, The Running Man, The Story of Us, Immediate Family, Irreconcilable Differences and Project X, and he has starred in productions at The Pasadena Playhouse and Garry Marshall’s Falcon Theater and off-Broadway.
