SAG-AFTRA’s National Ethnic Employment Opportunities and National Asian Pacific American Media Committees and the SAG-AFTRA EEO and Diversity Department present an informative panel discussion and interactive workshop with casting director and filmmaker, Risa Bramon Garcia (CSI: NY, Speed, Joy Luck Club), casting director and producer Heidi Levitt (Chavez, The Artist, The Rock), producer and director Quentin Lee (White Frog) and director Stanley Yung (2 Bedroom 1 Bath) at the 2013 LA Asian Pacific Film Festival. Actor Jodi Long (Sullivan and Son) will moderate.
Participation is free of charge, and participation is open to all ethnicities.
The event will be divided into two parts. The first half will be a panel discussion offering insights on the casting process. The second half of the workshop will involve audience participation. Select members of the audience will get the opportunity to hone their audition skills by reading a scene from a screenplay and receive immediate feedback from our panel of casting directors and industry experts. For the “audition portion,” you must send in a headshot and resume for consideration.
Following the program, audience members are invited to stay for a SAGIndie reception from 5:30-7 p.m. in the DGA Atrium with complimentary appetizers and beverages served. You must have a panel ticket for entry to the reception.
Parking: DGA Theater parking on Hayworth Ave. Parking is free.
RSVP Required: There is limited seating. This is a free but ticketed event. To attend and get your free ticket, please click here. Once the capacity of the venue is full, we cannot guarantee seating even if you have RSVP’d. Please arrive early.
Submitting to Audition: If you are also interested in the opportunity to participate in the audition portion of the workshop, please send your digital headshot/resume to: firstname.lastname@example.org
If you are submitting, be sure to get your free ticket to the event (see instructions above).
The workshop casting director will select a diverse group of participants. You will be notified in advance of the event if you are selected to audition, and you will receive sides to practice. If you are not selected, you are still welcome to leave your headshots for the casting director(s) at the event.
All materials for the opportunity to participate in the audition portion of the workshop must be received by Monday, April 29, by 9 a.m. Pacific Time.
