The Media Access Office was established in 1980 by the California Governor's Committee on Employment of People with Disabilities and entertainment and media industry professionals who recognized the need to provide a liaison between the disability community and the media and entertainment industry.
Following the closing of the Media Access Office in 2012, a group of concerned individuals, advocates and organizations came together to hold an informational Town Hall Forum and have been meeting monthly ever since in an continued effort to pursue strategic pathways to achieve the mission and objectives of the Media Access Office.
This is a unique opportunity to meet the Task Force members, and learn about current and ongoing efforts to further its mission and objectives. A variety of topics will be covered, all based on the primary responsibilities of the former Media Access Office, including the Media Access Awards, casting, talent development, advocacy and education and scholarships!
